Im stage 3 copd and supposed to be going to turkey in 2 weeks. My holiday isnt cancelled as jet2 are up and running the thought of wearing a mask for 4 hours on flight fills me with dread ad i cannot breath wearing 1. Havent left the house yet let alone the country. Not sure about going but i will lose all money

Hello 2manycigs ,

I found this on their website "If you have a medical condition that means you can’t wear a mask, then you don’t have to. If you need further information about this, please check the government website for the most up to date advice". You can check it for yourself if you go to the Jet2 official page it's under "Before you go". I think it would also be wise to get a note from your doctor just to save yourself the aggravation of being questioned. And be aware there may be people who will give you grief. Note or no note.

Take care.

Cas 😄

Make sure you keep checking the companies website and print off the very latest information before you fly and take it with you just in case you need it.

Take a copy of your prescriptions with you too and as Caspiana has already said try to get a note from your GP.

As far as a mask is concerned you could try taking a loose large thin scarf to protect yourself a little, people have to use what they can.

Once you have a plan in place try to relax and look forward to your holiday 😎

Hi 2manycigs, try wearing face shield instead. Still protection, but more comfortable for breathing. Enjoy your holiday.

Hi 2manycigs,

Why not get a fit to fly test done to see if you will need oxygen on the flight. You will have to get in touch with your doctor and tell him/her how breathless you are.

If you do not feel well enough to go and you have travel insurance your doctor could give you a sick note and you could claim your money back.

Are you shielding? if you are then it's not over until the 1st August so be careful about mixing again with strangers.

Hope all goes well, whatever you choose to do.

Best wishes.

Maureen

Have you thought of maybe contacting your consultant (or the secretary in the first instance) and explain your circumstances and they may even suggest they write your insurance company a letter to allow you to cancel your holiday.
