Boris Johnson is planning to put the nation on a diet to help people become fighting fit to beat coronavirus.

The Prime Minister is drawing up plans to speed up the battle against obesity after it emerged that fat people are more at risk of death and serious ill health from the disease.

Then a few days later. Eat out to help out.

Food lovers could soon be able to grab a meal at some of the country's best-loved restaurants for little more than £10.

Diners will receive a 50 per cent discount, up to a maximum of £10 per head, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the month of August, under Rishi Sunak's 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme.

Don't eat get thin. But Do eat and get fat, - because you can now afford more.

wouldn't mind one of those food boxes :D

or a voucher for healthy eating home delivery option :D :P

Most of the really fattening stuff hadn't been invented then. The only 'take aways' I remember are the fish & chip shops. God Bless'em!😉

Yet in WW1 they had a hard time finding enough properly nourished men to join the army.

So our Glorious Leader, the obese, lazy idiot, who when going gets tough hides in a fridge, has the audacity to put the proles on a diet.

How about you your and minister’s do your jobs properly, perhaps then country wouldn’t be in the mess it is.

And as for your £10 off a meal, you can shove it, there are millions of people dependant on food banks, but you want people to go and eat and drink out whilst Covid-19 is still rampant, no thank you.

I and I suspect many of the shielding on this forum will continue to shield until a vaccine is available, not because we are lazy, but because we value the need to keep on breathing!

You cannot believe a single word that the daily mail (or should that be the daily fail) print. Or for that matter anything the current PM says. Who is he to point the finger at anyone regarding weight? Not exactly a good role model in that regard. As for the money off a meal deal when so many are starving due to lack of funds....seriously we need to get the insanity of the tory party out of office and get in a party that will actually help those in need, ensuring everyone can feed themselves and their family rather than having to choose between paying bills and eating. 🤬😡 These oiks make me so mad!

Not just in the Daily Mail, I only chose those links to avoid all those obnoxious pop ups over cookies of having to register or subscribe to. Boris thinks he is "As fit as a butcher's dog", hahaha, have you ever seen a butcher's dog, with it's belly dragging along the floor?

Eat out to help out, just a carrot and stick to tempt people out from the safety of their homes, to get people used to going out again and spending money.

Really, like people have got any money left, after "stay at home lockdown". Do they not realise that all hobbies and entertainment cost money nowadays. money spent to break their boredom. Us lungies are probably adept at breaking the boredom without breaking the bank. Most of the healthy do not, spending out on decorating and DIY projects, even eating more snack junk food. I live next door to a retail park with "The Range" in it. I have seen streams of people with decorating and DIY supplies walking back to their cars, who cheekily park in the resident's car parks in my road. Perhaps the DIY stores are due to pay a Windfall Tax.

There will not be a return to the old normal for a very long time, if ever. It is logical, the risk of another pandemic gets ever closer, as the natural diversity of the world diminishes. The decline in wild animals, with more people in the world, will only encourage the leap of viruses to make the jump across to humans for the viruses to have hosts, to be able survive themselves. It is the way that nature works.
