Struggling to breath

Temperature hit 34 here in wales ,it is still 32 ,struggling to breath as my lungs dont like heat ,anyone else suffering

stay inside in the cool Alice, if you have a fan switch on with an ice pack in front of it, to cool the air. curtains drawn to keep the heat out etc. check posts here:

don't try to do any activity with these temperatures, very high UV and very high pollen.

Hello Alice, I'm also from Wales and have sat down all day with a fan blowing to keep me cool. You are right, it is difficult for us with lung problems. It hopefully will get a bit cooler now it's coming up to early evening.

Hope things cool down soon Alice. It’s very hot here on the south coast even with the breeze. Pete has been taking things very easy today and his breathing seems ok.

Swollen ankles, one now bandaged up, swollen fingers, had to take off my rings, as risked them getting stuck, bit breathless, even when not doing anything, inhaler usage up. All told as normal for a British Summer day over 26. Wish it was Spring all the year round.

Yes Alice, the heat does affect my breathing.

A lot of my family live in Wales. My granddaughter's husband, like me, is shielding, we both got letters this week from NHS. Mine, in England says continue shielding until 1st August, his, in Wales says 16th August. We wondered if it was because Wales are, very sensibly, being careful relaxing the lockdown.

Of course it could be that I'm a lung patient he has an auto-immune problem.

I'm ok if sitting quietly reading, watching TV or using the laptop, but any activity leaves me very breathless in this heat. So today I'm planning another 'bugger all' day! xx Moy

Hi Alice70 I'm not in Wales but South West London and the temperature's also hit the 33 degrees 🥵🥵. On the first day of the heat wave I went out for a walk and after 10 minutes I could not breath/ I was breathless and had to go home. Even when I'm inside and close to the window - polen , is enough to make me start to cough or hard to breathe.

Nightmare !

Yes, is the simple answer to that ! I am indoors with the fan on and inhaler handy. No point in trying to do anything much in this heat.

I live in Melbourne, Australia where the summer high temperatures are ever increasing. The last summer topped 45 degrees with many days over 40. I have an air purifer which helped enormously during the relentless heat. To add to this we had raging bushfires for months on end in the southern states making it impossible to go outside for wheezy IPF lungs. I also have a large fan plus a handheld fan (introduced during a clinical research trial I was part of showing that constant air to the face is a great aid to dealing with breathing problems, provided the actual air quality is good). This small fan is aimed straight at the mouth area. All of these tools kept me going/alive. Try one or all of these tools, they work. I have found also that stress to the body can bring on other health issues such as shingles and in my case a flare up of organizing pneumonia. Management is everything for me. Certainly heat is a real enemy particularly if there are strong hot winds.

I was suffering from the heat yesterdayand my hay fever was so bad. Today has been cooler but humid.
