Respiratory nurse coming on Monday

The nurse wants to check my oxygen levels with the blood test from my ear, am a bit worried as i have been shielding for 12 weeks,she has said they will be kitted out,was thinking should i wear a mask and gloves also.

Thanks for your reply ,just feel a bit nervous about it she said there was a big back log in other words they were way behind with patients.

Pete had a blood test last month and wore gloves and a mask. It was all fine. Wishing you well on Monday. Xxxx

If it makes you feel better wear a mask but I don't think you need to wear gloves.

As sassy said, I'm sure the nurse will be taking every precaution.

I had a nurse call to give me an injection at the height of the pandemic. Like you I was nervous about it, but it was fine, honest. She got out of her car, put kit on. Knocked on the door, gelled her hands and then put gloves on. She didn’t come into the house “proper’, she saw to me just inside the door, which she left open. Once finished, she left, taking her kit off once outside.

She didn’t touch anything in the house. It was all very reassuring.

Hi Milie, My Blood Nurse came to me Last week complete with PPE and as she was my First Visitor in 3 months I bowed Down to her.

I didn't need Mask on myself only the Nurse will.

I am 109 Days now including Shielding. I do Need the Oxygen Nurses for my Blood Gases as I am an 02 Retainer, have been requesting them since before the Lock Down. Finger crossed they get in touch with me soon. You will be Fine Hun. XXX C.

I had a recent blood test at my gp surgery and they supplied me with a mask, gloves and apron, the nurse also had the same on so you will be very safe x

I needed a blood test and was terrified at the thought of leaving the house. I've been Shielding since March 18th, as with Severe COPD - 30% lung function - it's unlikely that I would survive Covid-19. I phoned my surgery & they were fabulous & arranged for a nurse to come to my house. When she arrived she followed strict PPE procedure, was considerate & professional & was actually a very welcome visitor! Obviously I washed my hands and bleached taps, door handles etc but it really was much better than not having the test

Hi Millie, do not worry you will be fine. 2 weeks ago I needed a blood test and so a nurse had to come. Like you I was worried, but it was fine. She touched me for a very short time was all PPE Dressed and social distancing was observed. Take care, Maximonkey

I had a blood test this week at the surgery. It was a big step as have been shielding but the test was necessary and I decided to go.

I was told to ring the front door bell and then to go to the back of the building where I was able to go straight into the room without encountering anyone except the nurse. She left the door open. She was gloved, masked and wore a plastic apron. She was very quick and efficient. As I was also due to see the GP I was told to wait in the room and the GP would come to me, which she did. She was in scrubs, mask, visor and gloves. Neither the nurse nor the GP sat down, although I did. They took every precaution to avoid spreading infection.

I am sure you will find your nurse is sympathetic to the fact you have been shielding and hopefully will come with all the correct PPE. I wore a mask for my appointments and was thanked for doing so. You could do the same if it makes you feel more protected.

I understand what a big step it is - I was petrified at going 'into the community' for the first time in over 3 months, but it was less traumatic than I expected. Having someone into your home is a big deal, but as long as all precautions are taken, I'm sure you'll be fine. xx Moy

your health Millie is all about you, others care about you Millie, even so it is how you look after you that is the most important consideration - you should wear whatever gives you the greatest confidence. While your nurse is one of the considerate souls, it is the inconsiderate folk, who not only have a disregard for their own wellbeing, also happened to be totally unrespectful regarding the welfare of others. You just play it safe Millie in whichever way you feel the most confident, you are the special one. Blessed Be

My respiratory nurse came to check my blood gasses last week and she had the full face shield on I didn’t have to wear a mask or gloves.

Hi Millie

I had two nurses from the Acute Care Team visit me on Wednesday. While they were fully kitted they said there was no need for me to wear mask as they would be checking oxygen levels and asking me to do breathing exercises among other tests.

Please don't worry. They spent over 2 hours with me and they were great.

Yes take no chances I am lucky I am in a state in Australia that has had no cases in over a month (not bragging though) I am still so cautious xx
