Lockdown.

What is this life so full of scare

We've too much time to sit and stare

Wondering where the hell we are

Thinking of folk living much too far

To visit like we'd like to do

If only for a minute or two

But we must see it as a chance

Our quality of life to enhance

Looking for some hobbies new

Or catch up on jobs long overdue

Our locked in state don't underrate

It keeps out folk who irritate

Together with our usual cough

Quickly makes them to **** off

Our Don he is the rhyming king

He makes us smile

Our hearts to sing

Excellent use of the written word

Never unkind or haughty

Is he bad? Don’t be absurd!

Just sometimes a little bit naughty! 😂

Love you Don. Xx🤩😘👍🌈

Brilliant Carole, you've been keeping your light under a basket. Let it shine. :-)

Another gem

Another laugh. Laughs are very few and doubly precious now.

I have become an unwilling hermit

Pleased I made you smile. We do need laughter and lots of it.

We’re also unwilling hermits. Xxx

Brought a smile as always. 😉

Good morning Mr.D and today's rhyme made me smile and giggle when i read the final sentence 😂 !! Nice one Mr.D .... thank you. Hopefully as long as I've heard it correctly, on the 15th more shops and alike can be open for business?? No good for many like me,who are still under the Government Shielded Group..... we still can't get out into the workd🤬😩😭. Still our time will comeand until it does we've got to stay safe and indoors 🐿🌈💕

Oh well did Radìo 4 tell us any new information that makes a positive step in the right direction.

I'm a loyal LBC Radio fan, and enjoy Steve Allen every morning from 0400-0700hrs. Talk show so no music or calls , its a type of a show u either love or hate. Try it 97.3fm. 🐿🌈💕

Life has never been the same for me since 'Wake up to Wogan' finished.

We were asked a few days ago what we miss in lockdown.

I want to know what we will miss when we come out.

May post the question sometime.

Please can you post them? I am fascinated by our response to lockdown. Am in the middle of a short story about it.

Maybe a collection? Fundraiser for BLF?

W.h Davies ? ...yes, I can clear a space without covid 19. My hayfever will do the trick, every time.😁

in reply to Angelagone

Yes, I borrowed a word or two from Mr Davies, he’s welcome to use any of mine.😉

I know I know I can stay away or visit less frequently. Always good to read your verse though Don :) thank you

Well... In the past I have written things on two occasions and offered them to this community. One was a children’s story about Granny Gertrude and the Tooth fairy. The other was the long account of my medical history. I asked people who were interested to PM me from this forum and we exchanged email addresses or for GG and TF a postal address as it was printed with illustrations. When people wanted to make payment I just said to make a donation to BLF. You could do something very similar with your poems. Do not post your email address on here, it is too public. And the moderators will remove it. Or we could collaborate, ask others for their poems, stories, reflections.

What do you think?

All the best

Maybe in the last line, 'scurry off'? asks she, innocently.

in reply to Ergendl

There are so many suitable words to use there which, of course, is why I left it blank. sassy59 obviously had a naughty word in mind, being a bit naughty herself. Other people could have chosen from a wide range of others. 'Scurry' is an interesting one, but puts me in mind of small furry animals which I don't find at all irritating and it is irritating folk that we are talking about here remember. For instance 'saunter', a bit too slow for my liking but there again it's what an irritating person might do. I'm sure members could come up with many others, if they have the time to spare and are as nutty as me. 🤣

Very good, Don. I couldn’t decide whether it was a four letter or three letter word. I didn’t think of the word ‘scurry’ .

You are getting very literary, Don. What’s it going to be next?

Have a good day

X

in reply to Corin1950

The whole line needs a rewrite. I don't know what will come next, if anything. 🙄

Don’t wish to offend the master but how about this for the last 2 lines?

‘All you do is have to cough

And they will rush to scurry off‘

It scans better but not as funny as using an expletive.

X

You didn't offend me, I like discussing such things. That is a lot better, except I would rearrange the words in the first line to 'All you have to do is cough'. The problem is that I only write to amuse people and hopefully make them laugh and if that doesn't happen I might as well pack it in. 🤡

I didn't use an expletive if you remember, I left a space blank, the readers imagination filled it with an expletive and thought it funny. The funniest jokes are those were the scene is set but the action is left to the readers imagination, they make themselves laugh. The worst thing that can happen is having to explain a joke to a person who has no imagination.
