I had a woman knock my door yesterday asking if she could charge up her phone. Apparently she and another person were seen doing the same thing at a number of houses. They were seen later on catching a bus to the nearest town.

The sad thing is, would we miss helping a person in real distress as we are becoming more aware of scammers?

😁😊

I’ve been having a new one telling me there’s a problem with my Amazon account and to press one to have it sorted. The voice was a flat computer generated one which I can’t believe anyone would fall for.

Terrible these idiots doing these things when I sent of all my book work to HMRC for this last years business.

The day after I had an email telling me to send my bank account details so they could take the money ....

Oh of course heres my details just help yourself 🤔🤔🤔

These scammers really are despicable.

Though I did have a smile a couple of months ago with our one and only internet supplier. We don’t get BT, Talk Talk, Virgin or anyone other provider that has a land line.

A scammer had phoned the call centre saying he was representing the company and there was a problem.

The guy in the call centre asked if he knew who he was calling, he obviously didn’t. He kept him on the phone for a while. Broadband supplier one, scammer nil.

Hi Spacecat1 , 😊

I recently got a text supposedly from the post office telling me they had a package they couldn't deliver because I was out. I thought this weird because the post office only leaves notes so that another delivery time can be arranged. There was a link to click and all. I showed my daughter who looked it up and it was a scam , once you go the the site your phone will start to download some kind of spyware so that they can get details off your phone. Very unnerving. xx 😡😕

My favourite laugh-out-loud one which I get regularly is one which claims to have videoed me watching an adult website and threatens to email the video to my 12 friends unless I send x amount of bitcoins (amount varies). They quote a password I used 15 years ago for a catalogue company that no longer exists. Sent the first examples to Action Fraud, but now just chuck 'em in the recycle bin. To think they think I only have 12 friends!

I too had that same email. Twice.😫😫

If anyone is interested you can go to the website

haveibeenpwned

Then one supposed to be from a friend, long story short, asking for me to buy £300 worth of Amazon gift vouchers 😳😳

When you open haveibeenpwnd, enter your email address

It will tell you how many times you have been compromised.

Once you know you have you must

1. BLOCK THIS CONTACT.

You do this by clicking on the senders name at the top of the email.

Their name will appear alongside it again in blue.

Click again on that.

Then look down the list on the dialogue box for “ BLOCK THIS CONTACT” and confirm.

Then empty your trash and junk bins.

2. THEN CHANGE ALL YOUR PASSWORDS

3. THEN MAKE A DIARY NOTE TO CHANGE THEM EVERY 6 MONTHS AT LEAST.

hope this is of use to someone.

Best wishes

They will try anything to get your money. And they must think we dont realise it's a con. Do worry about the more vunerable.
