Issues with Deliveries

Hi everyone, I have a question is anyone having problems with deliveries?

I live in London in a flat on the first floor, and the last two times I have had a delivery, thankfully only small ones, the delivery drivers have rung my bell then left the parcel on the ground floor by the communal door. Has anyone else experienced this new style of delivery? It does not happen if it is royal mail.

I am quite frustrated as they do not know if I am even capable of going downstairs to collect the things.

I just needed to see if it was just me.

Stay safe everyone

I had this with a delivery from Argos. I had to go and get it but I set it up like that as I was trying to help the workman more than me

I have had this with one particular delivery company, I have had to move my order of certain inco bits to a different, slightly more expensive company, to get my delivery at my front door. I cannot get up and down my stairs, and even if I managed it down on my bottom, would have to open box at the door, and would take about 10 goes to get the stuff upstairs, cannot risk this, during lockdown, as my good neighbour has gone and locked down with her boyfriend.

Hi Teresa, yes that's happened for me with my local amazon delivery people. They leave it on the street outside our block of flats. I think they're snowed and want to do their deliveries asap, and obviously look after themselves too. Perhaps you can leave a note outside the door?

Delivery companies have to change their methods of delivery in these tricky times by ringing the bell stepping back and waiting for someone to open the door.

Unfortunately some poor drivers only get paid per delivery a bit like piece work and very very poorly paid..

Hello teresa297. You need to report this to the company you buy from or the parcel company. They need sacking. They are not doing there job right. There was a f.b post yesterday. Where the driver was saying parcel delivered. No on in. But the parcel was still in the van. Brian

Hi teresa297, I'm surprised at this. I live on the first floor. I also have weekly Sainsbury deliveries but they bring it to the door. I put every week on the delivery note : shielding , the driver brings it up leave the trays , my husband unpack, driver comes back while my husband inside the flat and brings another trays or leave. So they never actually meet. I'm not sure if shielding has to do anything with it.

I would call or email them.

Good luck 😊👍 and keep safe.

Hi Teresa I too have had a problem with delivery. Hopefully it will be the only one. Like you I live in a flat. This building is sheltered accommodation. The driver never rang my bell he just dumped my shopping (no bags) on the floor in the outside foyer. Luckily enough the manager and housekeeper saw him do it. He told them he was not coming inside a nursing home. Apparently he was rude to both of these women. I have tried to contact Asda to lodge my complaint. But unfortunately they are not accepting calls. I'm going into my 6th week of isolation Tesco are completely different. I'm due a delivery on Wednesday from Asda and am hoping that this it will be different. That day had the manager not been in her office I never would've got my shopping. Good luck hopefully you'll have a better experience next time. Take care and stay safe x

One of the Hermes drivers did this to me recently (not their usual ones -someone contracted in as van had another company name). I am also on first floor, with no lift (I have COPD and osteoarthritis). I rang the company name on the van and complained (they said it wouldn't happen again). Also emailed complaint to CEO of Hermes (only contact I could find). Hasn't happened since, but not holding my breath!! You should definitely complain as it's just the driver being lazy/trying to make up time!

We had a better one this week. A parcel that was supposed to go to a freind in wiltshire ended up at my door in the west midlands. I cannot go out so the person wont get it now till JUne when my 12 weeks is up . Mistakes do happen and some delivery systems do not take into account disability needs especially in flats or sheltered accomodation. Have a good day.
