Hi all
I’m wondering if anyone knows if you have to be severe to be on governments shielding list with Bronchiectasis only? Clearly it’s essential that severe patients should be but surely we all should be, especially if 65 or older?
Is anyone on list who isn’t severe?

I’m not fortunately severe but guess what I’d really like is to be on the government list so I can get an online shopping delivery as am super careful all the time anyway to avoid viruses due to getting an infection. It seems from reading this though that you have to be severe to get on the special list which enables you to get in the supermarkets special vulnerable list so you can actually get a slot for an online delivery! Didn’t really want to contact GP without knowledge as an always fussing about some ailment or another!
I’m on the extremely vulnerable list but can’t get an online shopping slot! Also I suspect, if things get desperate, the list might be used to triage those who are unlikely to survive the virus & deny us a ventilator. So I’d stay off it if you can
Ps try click & collect? Apparently supermarkets are being very careful in handing out the bags & are putting them in car boot for you. Then when you get home, wash hands, and wipe all your shopping down with a microfibre cloth wrung out in soapy water, then wash hands again. Or leave non-perishables in a spare corner for 72hrs & just wipe things going in fridge or freezer. Soap breaks down the outer layer of the virus & destroys it. I got this advice from a Q&A session with a scientist only today!

Some people have had success by going online after midnight. Not that it worked for me. I think I just live in the wrong place!
Tried that as well. You’re then in queue and don’t fancy staying up all night as the queue goes on and on!!
Just before midnight worked for me Hanne62 then on the dot of 12 i got queued and got a slot for 24th April 
I think you will eventually get your delivery slot H, once they've caught up with themselves.

The slots are starting to come through now. I logged on to one of the waitrose site last night and it came up right away that I was on the ‘list’. I also received emails from Sainsbury’s and Asda yesterday. The only thing they ask is that we just use one supplier a week or try and book a regular slot with one.
Hi hanne62 I am on the list with bronchiectasis, copd and kidney disease and I cannot get a slot for delivery or c/c either ,the government sent me a text ,the supermarkets an email saying I am priority but still difficult, I am using local catering services and green grocers

I've been doing this with the shopping since it hit here, my husband said I was being paranoid, he's not saying that now.
Yes... agree! I’ve also been like that since I was diagnosed. In fact my consultant said to me ... be careful with grandchildren as children are virus factories.... way back! X
😂😂 children definitely are a walking germ factory. I was teaching primary when I started getting recurrent chest infections. Deciding I might be better teaching adults, who at least could wipe their own noses I left mainstream teaching and began work in FE. BIG MISTAKE!
What I hadn’t taken into consideration was the constant turnaround of learners, a new group every four weeks and the type of learners I was teaching were not the most hygienic or healthy.
By 2011 I was off work more than I was in and when the bronchiectasis was finally diagnosed in the December, it was gently suggested to me that maybe I should look for work elsewhere. 🙄
I was lucky that I was able to take early retirement, especially as other health issues turned up over the next eight years.

I thought I had slipped the net even though I completed the online form gov.uk/coronavirus-extremel... two weeks ago. In fact I did it twice and also called the helpline number 0800 0288327. Then, lo and behold I received an email from Tesco yesterday saying that I had priority access to certain slots. It may be that it is taking time to get in touch with people. It seems that it's only Waitose/Ocado/Sainsburys and Tesco are offering this help. Might be worth calling the helpline number above. Thansk for the tips about wiping down food.
I was really hoping that now I’m on the shopping list as a vulnerable person I would be allowed a slot. Doesn’t look like it. I’ve also tried click and pick too no slots
I only have mild copd so I'm not on the list either. I am obviously at risk though like you but I am fortunately not housebound so do my own shopping. I just go twice a week though and practise social distancing. It does worry me but would rather leave online shopping for those who have no choice. x

I'm afraid it leaves the likes of you, I and thousands of others out in the cold, out amongst the bugs. Whilst I'm so pleased that the extremely vulnerable with severe lung ailments, transplant patients, those on chemotherapy among others it leaves a huge chunk of society who are still very vulnerable and forced to go out in the world for food if we don't know anyone to go for us. It's quite scary actually.
At least I live moments from shops for essentials - and even chocolate! I really feel for those in more isolated locations.
I've been watching my 82 year old neighbour brave the queues (she won't hear of me helping), she normally lives a very full life so I was very pleased to hear that she had an email today from the Co-op to say they will deliver her groceries. Good old Co-op.

Unfortunately lots of us who were on chemotherapy at start of this pandemic have now had it stopped 😟
Leaves us still extremely vulnerable to virus and worrying about cancer !

No I’ve not had a letter as think I’ve got Bronchiectasis and asthma but probably not severe x
I have bronchiectasis, coronary heart disease (heart attack and heart failure), diabetes, osteoarthritis and had a stroke 18 months ago but, you guessed it, I’m not on the list.
Have you tried contacting your council? They may have a list of volunteers who are willing to do shopping, collect meds etc.
I’m pretty much housebound anyway and have always had shopping delivered but now find it impossible to get a slot with ASDA. My sister (who lives 200miles away) suggested trying Iceland for the basics and lo and behold, I got a next day delivery.

Hi, I'm mezz 1, I find it hard to believe that you are not on the list of being severe with having heart problems as well as bronchitis. I have chronic asthma, and airway obstruction lots of things affect my breathing now. I'm struggling with a swollen foot at the moment due to arthritis. Got a phone call from my GP last week saying I have to stay home and isolate. I registered with gov.uk but so far not received any letter. Why can't doctors just be honest and tell people who are in which category on the list. It looks like there has been a big mix up between the government and NHS with these letters.
I would think you would have had a letter or text by now if you were on the list.
They also send you a link to report if you need help with shopping etc.
I was surprised to receive my letter about this. I have never been told that my symptoms are severe and I don't believe that they are.
I have COPD, asthma and bronchiectasis.
However, my latest letter states that due to my health condition I am at greater risk than others of needing a hospital admission if I should get covid-19, hence the shielding. I have been treated in hospital several times for severe chest infections and pneumonia so I guess this is the reason why.
If you think you should be on the sheilding register, you need to speak to your GP surgery I think and ask them about it.

I am on the list but can't get an online delivery slots, I received an email from Sainsburys saying I would be a priority but there are no slots for 3 weeks
I’m on the list and received a message from Sainsbury’s to say I was successfully registered and could get one online delivery a week, but when I log onto Sainsbury’s it doesn’t recognise me as a vulnerable customer. I have spent hours on the phone trying to sort it but just as I think I must be getting somewhere they cut the call off.
I tried to register with Morrison’s and today received an email saying they are not doing priority online delivery but could they help with anything else. No I don’t think so!
I think the lists are incomplete and lots have been missed, I'm in Scotland and they were a bit later in letting people know, think they were trying to make sure they got everyone, they also give you an option to contact them if you think that your condition puts you at risk and you did not get a letter, think it's all down to individual Drs practices how the lists are compiled.

I have moderate copd and asthma, am on the list and have already had 2 letters. I was surprised as not at the severe level but I read that having more than one illness is what will make people more vulnerable.
You don't need a letter by the way to self- register. Having your NHS number ready helps but in any case I think all our medical records are online anyway and could easily be verified. gov.uk/coronavirus-extremel...

Unfortunately there are a lot of selfish people who don't need to stay in and have taken all the slots for home deliveries. I've been grounded for 12 weeks, it's dangerous for my wife to go out as well in case she brings the virus home to me. Lucky for us we have a daughter and son that shops for us but both have young children , our grandchildren, that they could infect. So it's all a dodgy business. I'd prefer home deliveries but there's no chance. Hopefully things will improve for all of us.

We have a daughter who lives 50 miles away and another daughter who lives in Austria. We have no one local for shopping etc. I have high risk letters from the Respiratory clinic as I have ILD CTD . Pulmanory Fibrosis and waiting for home oxygen. Also high risk letter from Rheumatology as taking immune suppressants. All the offers of help but non actually forthcoming.
I didn't get a letter or e-mail, but arranged for a letter from my respiratory Consultant (to satisfy my employer). His information was that anyone taking oral steroids for respiratory conditions should self isolate for twelve weeks.
I’m Moderate COPD. No hospital admissions and no chest infections for over2.5 yrs yet I got the letter. Strange how some have had a letter yet like me don’t actually meet the criteria f you read it

gov.uk/coronavirus-extremel.... and put down that you have no one to assist you and hopefully you will get some help.
Hi have you checked to see if any smaller local shops are delivering? I haven't had to worry about the supermarket as we have quite a few 'corner' and specialist shops who are making deliveries, either through themselves of via the Zoom app. It's a good way of supporting local business if you have any around you. Our local market is also organising deliveries.
don't really know but my letter from the NHS says "people with severe respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD" Not sure this includes yourself.
Try ringing your GP and asking them if you are severe enough for "shielding" they should know.
You should have had a letter from the NHS but I do know of a few severe cases that they have missed.
