Tinnitus and deafness years on from meningococcal meningitis and Septicaemia

Hello.....

Dear fellow Meningitis survivors. I had meningococcal meningitis and Septicaemia back in 1989 and suffered terribly from it.

I have lived with the side effects since then and have just learnt to adapt. In regards to the deafness and tinnitus. I was about 70% with severe tinnitus in my left ear and 50%deafness in my right ear with tinnitus which had been like this since 1989, however I woke up last night and I am now almost completely deaf in my left ear with increased tinnitus levels and my right ear tinnitus volume levels have increased to such an extend I can barely concentrate.

Obviously I am on the phone to any specialist I can get hold of during this time, but I just wondered had any previous survivors experienced increased deafness and tinnitus decades on from the incident.

Please advise if you get a chance to respond.

Thank you

Ruth
