Hi I am new on this site though I have read the posts and get e mails from BLF. I have a sore back of the throat, cant think what the protrusion is called! It is a side effect of using Trimbow inhaler and I wonder if anyone has a good tip for treating it?

If you are not already isolating best do so for 7-14 days to be sure its not one of the first signs of Coronavirus. (sore throat is one of them)

Check emc site and NHS site

medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

Trimbow - side affects

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

sore throat nhs.uk/conditions/sore-throat/

runny or stuffy nose and sneezing

fungal infections of the mouth. ** Rinsing your mouth or gargling with water and brushing your teeth immediately after inhalation may help to prevent these side effects

hoarseness

headache

urinary tract infection.

** If you are isolating you could call the pharmacy and ask if someone can deliver something for oral thrush, or phone your GP for a prescription.

Here is information on oral thrush:

If its non of the above and you think it may be tonsilitis - make a telephone appointment with your doctor.

Hope you get some relief real soon.

Rinsing mouth, gargling and brushing teeth after inhaler meds is always a good thing and to eat or drink something afterward so any remain residue is swallowed and dealt with in the stomach.

Your partner could help you do that but really its quite simple.

Sign out of your partner's profile.

then register with HealthUnlocked healthunlocked.com/

then you just add any health boards you want for any health issues you have.

thankyou will do best to you at this time

Do you mean the uvula, hangs down between tonsils? If there are white spots it could be oral thrush, for which you’ll need a prescription for Nystatin or similar.

Sore throat isn’t one of the main symptoms of this virus, unless you also have a fever.

I had a sore throat yesterday but no fever & it’s subsided today. Gargle with saline or soluble aspirin but if you think it’s thrush you must phone gp

yup that's the one, thankyou, no spots so I will try the aspirin, thanks

Dawn, if you do get spots or it gets worse (hope not but sometimes the spots are too far down throat to be visible) then do phone gp cos thrush doesn’t go away, it just gets worse & can be really, really sore. I’m on a steroid inhaler too, at a high dose, & get occasional sore throats, just looks red. Fingers crossed the gargling will see it off x

sore throat can be one of the 1st signs or the virus, but it doesn't mean that it is the virus and as a precautions it is wise for any one to isolate 7-14 days if they are not already.

Don't hesitate to make a telephone appointment with your doctors if unsure at any time, who will be able to advise you better, knowing your medical history etc.

Here we are not medical professionals, but just sharing from our own experience, only a doctor can advise you properly.

Best wishes

Keep well and safe both of you
