How utterly disgusting, it would be immoral and cruel to do that. And the banks have now decided to profferteer as well. We should be pulling together and making sure everyone is cared for, not wondering how much money can be made . Have a good day and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx

It truly is disgrace GUESS that’s why never heard from MP

Clearly am going to phone social worker tomorrow AS that little nugget she failed to mention

So am going ask her what she knows and what she knows about human rights law

In times of national emergency humans rights are surspended CLEARLY this lies being told to lessen blow AND it’s not for there benefit those in receipt of social community care.

It’s Continuing Care that is the issue , I think , Jeff.

Previously a Continuing Care plan happened where the NHS would pay for both nursing and social care ( food, bed, washing and dressing for instance) ......this was after an assessment of the patient. If they could chew, or sit up etc.

My late father was not accepted for CC , even though he was paralysed apart from one arm and some movement in his feet, couldn’t chew, sit up, doubly incontinent. The criteria are very strict.

Now , under this emergency there is less obligation for the assessment to be carried out , so social care will be paid by the Local Authority or the patient, or as in my fathers case a combination. Nursing care paid after an assessment by the NHS, for those who need nursing rather than just social care.

Elderly patients in nursing homes will still be looked after, it’s just the assessments for Continuing Care which are affected.

So don’t worry, Jeff, it’s just the assessment rules that have been changed for the duration, reviewed every six months.

At least that’s my understanding .

When someone gets sick your everyday carers don’t have to do it AS it’s new needs assessment CLEARLY is nhs going to do it or volunteers

So yes seans like we have seen in Spain are very possible even Alzheimer’s society was saying same

Your understanding is spot on knitter, and the amount of people who do get continuous care is incredibly small,my wife after her stroke was in a very similar condition as your late father, but we continued to get care from social services, albeit heavily funded by me and i imagine that will be the case now,in fact the removal of the rigorous and sometimes ruthful assessments by the mdt teams may actually mean that some folks will even get a better deal.

I do not think Jeff that your fears concerning events that have happened in Spain which are heart breaking will happen in this country. I know many people in the care system and they are determined that "their" people will be cared for.

I had to fight tooth nail for care my dad gets and gov think strock Of pen can un do all that

During crisis people think about them self SO anything is possible given stuff have whitnessed so far

Having worked in health and social care for a very long time I would doubt very much that we will see what happened in Spain which was horrendous.

There are very dedicated social care workers in all client groups, it’s not just doctors and nurses.

As knitter had said it’s the continuing care assessments that have changed and it’s for six months, it will then be reviewed.

During these strange times everyone needs to be flexible.

Amongst other things I have a compromised immune system, take steroids, heart and lungs are for want of a better word are knackered and weakness down one side due to a stroke.

Do I get any help or have I heard from anyone, no, and I didn’t expect too

As for the banks they were due to

Increase overdraft charges I had a letter informing me a couple of months ago. So that’s not really news, tho I do think they could be a bit more flexible.
