Hi Jamieash,

What does your GP say? There are other things that can be done. As an aside, are you resting and looking after yourself? Your body does need to recover but there are other things that the medical profession can look at. See your GP and tell him/her of your concerns.

Forgive the following description if you already know this:-

Also with so many antibiotics, you also need to be taking probiotics for your gut. I have just been on two courses of antibiotics. They are great and I wouldn't be without them. They kill the bad bacteria in our system but they also can kill the good bacteria in our intestines. This good bacteria helps us to digest our food and build up our immune system. You can get probiotics (good gut bacteria) at any chemist or health food shops. Also some grocery stores stock them. I have been told it is best to take the probiotic at a different time to the antibiotic. However probiotics won't help your pleurisy, only your gut health.

Let us know how you are going.

Excellent advice not to be ignored, I didn’t know about this and I am paying the most terrifying symptoms because of the malfunction of my gut and immune system is virtually zero because of it and I am told there is nothing they can do to help don’t ignore digestion problems when you have lung issues, good luck xx

Hi carolg1

Have you looked at alternative medicine doctors? They may have some extra ideas to help. Good Luck.

Have you taken a sputum specimen to your hospital bacteriology department? That’s if you’re coughing anything up of course? I have a bottle and form and I ready always, get my hubbie to drop it off at bacteriology or your surgery if better! Call your GP and ask him to leave form and specimen bottle for someone to collect for you, then at least you’ll know the treatment is the right one! Hope you’re better soon. 🥰

The A and E department should be used for just that, it's in their interests to get you out of the door as soon as possible, and wont investigate your underlying condition.

Get a referral from your GP to see a chest specialist.
