Advice from An Old Farmer

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

Keep skunks and bankers at a distance.

Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

Words that soak into your ears are whispered… not yelled.

Meanness don’t jes’ happen overnight.

Forgive your enemies; it messes up their heads.

Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.

You cannot unsay a cruel word.

Every path has a few puddles.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.

Don’t judge folks by their relatives.

Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

Live a good, honorable life… Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.

Don't interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering you none.

Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a Rain dance.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.

Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’.

Always drink upstream from the herd.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.

Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.

If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around..

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.

Most times, it just gets down to common sense.

Especially like the one about being unable to unsay a cruel word. I hop you and Midge are ok.

Yes we are fine thanks. I don't usually post other peoples stuff, but this one includes so much good advice that I couldn't resist it. 🙂

Morning, morning, morning Mr.D and i liked the "find yourself in a hole, then stop digging" & also "Every path has a few puddles"..

Wise words and a nice distraction from all this pandemic virus stuff. Im on a self preservation lockdown as I've felt unwell for quite a few days now but hopefully, keeping myself in solitary confinement, will pay off in the long term. At times it all seems to be a very long list of what NOT to do and it gets very tedious. Would you go out with Midge & the woolly girls for a nice scenic drive about or are you staying indoors etc? 🐿💕

Morning SH. It's supposed to have been written by an old American farmer and probably was. I like the "Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment." How very true that is. 😄

I am so tired of listening to people endlessly criticising everything (justifiably so in most cases) instead of getting down to trying to help those in difficulties who come here seeking help.

Midge and I are going to regarded the motorhome as an extension of our house without having contact with the outside world. I've made sure that the tank is full of diesel and everything I need is in there so no door will opened except in my driveway. We will be restricted to local runs, no overnight stays, but that's better than nothing. Apart from that it's a case of playing it by ear and using common sense. I hope you are able to find a comfortable way of managing. 😘

Excellent contingency planning Mr.D and this is when i become green with 🤢 envy as you can simply step up into your 🚐 campervan and drive off into the sunset with your 3 loyal girls.

Just one request if i may be so bold ..... please take a snap shot of where you visited ? OK, this envious squirrel will have to stay put a while. Take care and dare i say it ..."take precautions"!!!😂😂🐿💕

Grasshopper: I have been in the marketplace. All of the men there argue and fight. There is no peace.

Master Po: Why does that trouble you, when your home is here?

Grasshopper: I want all men to know peace.

Master Po: It is written in the 'Tao Te Ching', "Under heaven, all can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness. All can know good as good only because there is evil. Therefore, having and not having arise together. Difficult and easy complement each other. High and low rest upon each other. Front and back follow one another."

Grasshopper: But Master, do we not want all men to know our peace, our joy?

Master Po: Would you make the whole world a temple? Be like the sun, and what is within you will warm the earth.

Grasshopper:Who will will the FA cup in 2023?

Master Po:How the F*** would i know grasshopper,i am not the fountain of all knowledge! :)

You are a card! 😂

Thanks, Don. That gave lots of pauses for thoughts and many smiles. 😀

I like your plans for days out in the campervan. Sounds a real treat while staying safe. Lovely sunny day here today, wonder if you’re off now? Photos for the rest of us from our intrepid explorer would be good 🌊🌷🌲☀️🌈🏰🧗🏻🏄🏻‍♀️⛵️ xx

You are keeping us well entertained Don, thank you. I like the one " words that soak into your ears are whispered not yelled" amongst a few of the others. Have a good trip wherever you may roam and as a few have requested, snaps please for those of us stuck at home x

So much wisdom in those lines. Very thought provoking!

Enjoy your trip out in the camper van. Let us know where you go, maybe send a pic for all of us stuck indoors.

Love

I must have missed this one Don. You posted it month ago! How did I miss such an honest and sensible post. A lot of good sense you've written there. I agree with those words of wisdom.
