Antibiotics- Steroids - Chest Infections

Morning everyone. So many may remember me changing my meds simply because of two chest infections January however it never really went! We’re now in March and I’ve asked dr for different antibiotics as I’m sure now ruling most things out that the amoxicillin isn’t getting rid of it!

So Monday I got a Gp telephone consultation as I was told not to go in for my own safety- prescribed a different one which taken every 12 hours - last night I was so ill - with sore throat, nauseous, no taste, plus a few other things including breathlessness only to find I’ve got the side effects of the new antibiotics!!! I’m so annoyed - however I just need to ride the storm because I need to get rid of my chest infection. I’m trying not to go anywhere and am vigilant with hand washing and keeping a metre away from others but it’s so frustrating!!!

Anyway vent over! Here’s a picture of Pepparuby my black panther who 9 tomorrow!!!

Your cat is beautiful,picture perfect.

When I had Doxy,I always felt exceptionally rough, used to go to bed and wait for the cure !

Since I got my diagnosis, and have lanzanzaprole daily, don’t get the side effects, don’t know how it works! I really hope you feel better soon

So sounds like it's working. I take co amoxiclav. Which I feel not working as well as I used. Been on it over 2 years. So would probably need a change.

Love our cats we have the black one and black and white one. Working on my hubby for another one.

Try taking your doxycycline with food Pr1 , I always do and have no side effects, when you first had your chest infections was you asked to supply a sputum sample? , if not its really a hit and miss strategy by your doctor , ihope you start to feel better soon

Hi Soulboy well I made Gp appointment then they called me back telling not to come in for my own safety!!! So I got the Gp on the phone and requested different antibiotics as the amoxicillin didn’t work!!

If you dont feel no better in a few days after the new antibiotics phone your Gp back and ask for a sputum sample to be sent off, I just csnt help thinking whilst this hit and miss antibiotic prescribing is going on your stuck with an infection when your ( and mine) immune system is compromised through our copd , doxycycline is a good antibiotic though , best wishes for a speedy recovery .

Pepparuby,i do hope they come up with the right combination for you and many on here who take regular and copious amounts of a.b's may be able to guide you in what may work but i imagine a sputum sample is required, could the pharmacy not collect from your house and take to the surgery?

Your cat is so attractive and refined that Scruffy now has an inferiority complex. :) x

Oh please - the pharmacist will not do that - the health service in London suburbs is useless!!!

Yes Pepparuby is a beauty but not very forthcoming and she knows it so tell Scruffy as long as he’s kind and a lap cat there’s no competition

Maybe the district nursing services could help but unless you are on their list that's probably not a clever idea from me. :)

Scruff's is a lady and if other cats new of her constand demand to sit in my lap her reputation like my furnishings would be in tatters. :)

I don't miss the London suburbs one bit and could probably never adapt to being a suburban Londoner again. :(

I just have to say what a beautiful creature your cat is. I'm sure other members will give you some advice regarding your nasty infection. Keep as well as you can. Chrys

Is she spoilt then as we have an extremely spoilt elderly ginger tabby called baby who is 16 next month!

Cat girl - the three of them are spoilt!!! If they turn their nose up at food then meowmy gets something different for them 😂

in reply to pepparuby1

One of my friends has 3 cats. Percy is a brown and white tabby who is 16 in June and a mate of baby's, Luis is a full brown tabby who is 4 and fella a grey and white cat who is 5.

Do they get weekly treats then as baby gets a weekly treat every Monday usually fish from the market!

Others have given you good advise but you have my sympathy sometimes antibiotics make you feel worse before you feel better.

I love your kitty what a stunner I’d have him any day Also there’s no such thing as no room, which is prob why I managed to end up with five and divorced 😂😂😂
