Cooking on gas

Having been using gas to cook for many years even after using oxygen for the last ten years. Whilst I know about the safety with O2 and naked flames the question is “ How much pollution is entering our lungs by cooking on gas?”

Sensible answers would be appreciated

I’ve no idea on that one Mikeadams. We also cook with a gas hob but electric oven. I’ve never thought of pollution so will try and check that out. Xxxx

Of course there will be pollutants, there is unvented combustion, spot on replies there Bkin. We changed over to an electric cooker when upon diagnosis.

I think the air change in the home is very important too, so long as its not letting pollutants in, like pollution from heavy traffic on main roads, or in high pollen season.

That is a very good question, the answer is of interest to us all.

The other thing that may be helpful to anyone with gas is the the CO monitor / alarm

in UK the fire brigade may supply one free of charge.

British Gas supply one free. carbon monoxide detector.

Check with your Gas supplier for more information.

Got one for the gas fire. Not thought about one for the cooker

The people who do my annual check up put in carbon monixide detectors in the kitchen and the lounge. I usually open the kitchen door after cooking to let out the smells and I try to have some fresh air in the house throughout the day no matter the weather, which I think helps with our lungs x
