Lung Transplant update 3

Hello,

I posted a few weeks ago about my mother’s lung transplant journey. To recap my mum is 62 and had her single lung transplant on the 30th October, since then she has spent 105 days in critical care. It has been traumatic on the whole family and of course my mother. She has since been moved to the respiratory support ward to establish her on an NIV and moved to the transplant ward a couple of weeks ago. For the first time it feels like taking my mum home could be a realistic possibility, I don’t want to get my hopes up too much ... fingers crossed she can make it out the hospital, so far mum has been in the hospital over 4 months.

Hi Queen bean , what a warrior your mum really is 💜 , she must have been through so much and is is still fighting she is a lady to be very much admired 👍, your whole family and her loved ones must have had a lot of very worrying times and to think your now seeing light at the end of the tunnel is just great.

I wish your mum strength to cope with the rest of her journey . I wish you and all the family the strength also to keep your hopes up , I think she’s done amazing infact you all have. Also that once your mum is home she will notice a big differance in her breathing . God Bless you all , I’ll keep you in my prayers 🙏🏼❤️ All the best and make sure you also take care of yourself 🌹🌹💞

Thank you so much, on Wednesday there is someone who had a lung transplant at the same hospital that is coming to see mum. I met this lady on instagram and i hope it helps motivate mum somewhat

Yes that’s my hope she is definitely trying although she fell over with the physios the other day trying to walk, but she’s back on the horse and trying a few steps again

It's going to be hard just learning to walk again and build up muscles that haven't worked for 4 months,as frustrating as being in hospital can be it's best she takes her time until she is fit enough to safely return home.wishing her well on that journey. :) x

Sounds as though she's had a hard time since her operation, but hopefully her recuperation will go smoothly from here on in. She's a fighter, and I hope she will reap the benefits soon. Its been difficult for you all - all best wishes to your mum and family as a whole.

Its a major operation and takes time to recover. I wish your mum well, it sounds like she is getting to the point where she may be allowed home. Its hard on the family visiting, worrying and getting ready for her return, so look after yourselves as well. Keep us updated x
