Hi Karen sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Good news: I am led to believe that there is minimum if any reduction in life capacity with the condition of it is well managed. The not so good news: However it may impact on the quality of your life.

Good diet, exercise and follow your consultants treatment plan should help minimise the impact in quality. Take good care of yourself.

Bernie 😊

I was diagnosed 2008 and still here bit slower now but still go out and about. I am just 60 now. I was working u until 2 years ago. I only gave up because I was a childminder and it was not fair on the little ones couldnt run around any more. Once you are over the shock of it all you can carry on doing things but a bit slower.

There is a lot of redundancy in lungs (which is why people can live on one of them), and a good pair of lungs will keep you going until you are 130! I'm 69 with a lung age of 90 so, on that basis, I could live till I was 109. Since neither age extreme is very likely, I would be more concerned about other issues, such as trying to control any symptoms as well as possible to ensure a reasonable quality of life.

Smoke, eat a poor unnutritious diet, be overweight, don't exercise, expose yourself to colds n coughs, don't have the annual flu jab and it'll be a few miserable years full of suffering.

Do none of the above and you can live a fulfilled, wonderful for many many years to come

Greetings

How long is a piece of string? I got my initial diagnosis some 40 years ago, but had always had breathing problems. Keep exercising, stop smoking and you'll have a healthy future.
