The Hamster's Tale. (A silly one to redeem myself.)

I'm a hamster on my tread mill

Going round and round and round

I thought this thing was wonderful

When it first was found

My days were very boring

Before it here appeared

I thought I'd die of boredom

My owner also feared

But then I was young and active

I really made it spin

Now I'm old and knackered

And getting rather thin

But I can't stop this spinning

It's deep ingrained within

If only I could stop a bit

And have a double gin.

Where do you come from Don? Out of interest, did your wife appreciate your humour and poems? Chrys

in reply to RoadRunner44

I came from where I still am, Chrys. Although I've travelled a good deal I've never lived further than 3 or 4 miles from where I was born. My wife and I were happily married for 55 years before she died 2010 and we laughed a lot, so I assumed she appreciated my humour as I did hers. She would be surprised if not astounded to find me writing as I do here.

My hubby keeps me going with his humour. He has me believing things and takes me an hour so to realise hes winding me up. Always has a smile. Been married 39 years next Friday.

I'm very pleased to hear that, I'm sure it's that sort of rapport that makes for long and happy marriages. Congratulation for next Friday, when it gets to 50 you might have got to like him. 😂x

Sounds as if you were very happy together. How did you meet? School maybe?

I trained to be an astronaut hammy defying centrifugal force

They put me in that wheel and turned it very fast of course

But what they didn't know and could not have foreseen

Was that i would throw up in my tidy cage and leave a mess for them to clean

They retired me from my post and now its a simple life for me

Just sleeping in my cage until the kids feed me carrots for my tea. :)
