I hope everyone is having a ok 👌 day and has the sunshine ☀️. I am still smoking cigarettes, despite COPD and other illnesses. However I wanted to stop 🛑/ cut down before I have an operation on 6th February on my hand. However I am vaping again and down to 5/6 cigarettes 🚬 a day. I know I am stupid 🤪. I was smoking 15/20.
BUT ....... the vaping is causing me to cough, have pains in my chest etc again . I tried vaping before and this happened and I got my diagnosis of COPD. SO my BIG question is, bearing in mind that I cannot stop 🛑 just now, am I to continue vaping? Or go back to cigarettes 🚬 where I have no symptoms?????? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again for your help and enjoy the rest of the day. Xxxxx
Thanks as I do plan on going back to doctors after my operation. Thanks so much for your support and I appreciate it very very much as it gives me the incentive to stop 🛑. I know I can do it but I just needed a prod. I hope you are having a good day. Xxxx
I know how hard it is to stop smoking and I really do feel for you here.
Any advice I can offer is based on my personal experience and everyone’s different.
I switched abruptly, threw two packs in the bin and started vaping. I had a period of around a week where the cough worsened but then it quickly disappeared. A pal of mine at the time had the same problem and finally went back to cigarettes but he was using both on the transition.
I have also found that some flavours can be worse than others and, although I hated menthol cigarettes, I use menthol exclusively now. I find it less irritating than the tobacco and fruit flavours.
I use Vapouriz Fuse hardware and until recently their 1.8% Menthol Special Blend juice. It’s a UK company - vapouriz.co.uk/
My advice. Ditch the fags completely and persist with the vape. It may take a few weeks for the cough to settle. Try some different juices as some give more throat hit than others.
You may need to be off tobacco for a week or more before you really feel the difference. For me it was like recovering from a bout of flu and you wake up one day feeling better.
For what it’s worth the 7 years of vaping has not made my copd worse.
