There's nowt like prunes to make you glow

They're sure to keep you on the go

To make you feel that life's okay

If you eat them every day.

For sluggish systems they work well

In a way there's no need to tell

Sufficient it's enough to say

They help to flush your cares away.

Good morning Mr.D and you've got your rhyme spot on! My lovely old Nana used to swear by taking her prunes once a day kept all things at bay! She lived for 90 years and only saw a Doctor once in her lifetime.

Hope you are doing ok and keeping warm in this chilly weather. They say we may even get snow in the south east in a few days. Love to Midge, cant leave her out eh? 🐿💕

It's very cold here today too, SH. We haven't had any real winter weather yet but I'm sure we'll get some before long. The window cleaner came today and for the first time ever Midge didn't hear him and he had to ring or front door be to be let in around the back. I knew she had lost some hearing but didn't realise it was that bad. Her eyesight is also going making me realise that she might well die before me whereas I've been preparing for it being the other way around.

Prunes are not very good for dogs in case anybody is wondering. They are not as toxic to them as grapes and raisins but still not good.

I'm just going to open a tin!

in reply to RoadRunner44

I notice a lot of places have begun calling tinned foods 'canned'. Is there a difference between tinned and canned?

I believe cans are an American description. In UK we have always referred to the containers as tins. A case of same but different. Regional, perhaps.

From what I remember when a little girl, my father who was in the army with some Americans, mentioned this explanation to me many years ago.

Nice to hear from you Don.

First, Kiwi Fruit are good as well !! well for me any fruit.

You just made me hoot, My Crohn's has just kicked off, spent last evening doing an urgent order through Age UK for all the Pads, mattress covers, chair pads etc that I need, (always have a few days worth as a "just in case".) I do have this down to a fine art, after over 30 years should be used to it.

Oh I love prunes either with cream or custard and unless I’m really greedy with them thy have no effect on me. Love the poem though.

in reply to Grandmatojack

Mind those prunes don't catch you out one day. 😉

It's the "Go To" product when you need to Go, Don; I like mine with a tin of creamed rice. Thank you for a good laugh again.
