A rather big feeling of Déjà vu with this and I do wonder if there is a correlation. I took part in research study, as a subject, in something very similar around 30 months ago. All about an epigenetic theory. I could not see it through to the end as it involved invasive bronchoscopy procedures and that was when I had a suspect nodule detected so it was cancelled, deemed as unwell and they are ultra cautious when it comes to research.

Some hope there I think, as I have always believed genetics have been involved, as it is the logical reason why some but not all smokers and even non-smokers acquire COPD.

What happened to this trial you took part in 30 months ago?

It was not a trial but epigenetic research trying to find out what makes some of us prone to contracting COPD and others not. We were not told of any conclusions.

Oh ok well this sounds somewhat promising

The treatment is yet to be developed and they are currently looking for a partner, they have secured some funding already. This could be a game changer, as I am sure that a genetic treatment will eventually provide the answer. There are two down sides at the moment it is very expensive to develop genetic treatments and fear, that along with the necessary human trials, it will be at least 10 years before we know whether this will work. I do feel that they are definitely on the right track though and can only wait with bated breath.

Would we benefit from this if it's not research being done in this country? slowly getting to understand some of research implications 2grey. It's a good job you understand it all

I emailed CEO who said they are awaiting response from EU re funding, they will know this Friday then he said it could be another 3/4 years before it reached trials, but as 2grey stated its yet to be development. But good again to know they are out there trying to solve this epidemic. Well that's what I think.

Brilliant and very very hopeful I am going to re read this again. Thank you

sounds to me a bit similar to the Chinese stem cell treatment only with a more in depth explanation, there initial trail was that they manually brushed two small areas on human lungs . this new theory sounds like they hoping to use the donor own stem cells grown externally and maybe deliver them via inhaler maybe. These people really should get together these Chinese study was already underway with human trails . correct me if i am wrong.

Hi,can't say if they are similar or not, fact is that the most important thing is if they are similar it means more probability of success right?
