Fabulous results

Hello everyone, hope you are all as well as can be.

So i did a 2nd spyrometry test today after being booked in to see a specialist nurse.

One of my readings was 82% which is classed as normal (no copd)

I was told my lung age is 54, i’m 50 this year, so 30yrs of smoking, i’ll take that!!

I was told just to take 1 puff of Fostair morn & eve to keep asthma/flare ups at bay.

My question is did i ever have copd in the first place? I had a really bad may/june chest infection & did first spyro in Aug.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated

Vx

So, so happy for you Vee70 . You may not have had COPD at all, who knows, but your results are outstanding. I am so very pleased!! xx 👏👏👏

I think it is certainly possible the Aug results were affected by the infection you had in June. I don’t think anyone can say for sure but the current results apparently show no COPD, so that is good news.

Great news Vee70. 1 thing less to worry about. I too have a 2nd test in March. The 1st was done while waiting for a Pacemaker, was diagnosed C.O.P.D. But since my op i dont get out of breath. So hope my results as good as yours Brian

Thankyou for replying, yes i am on cloud nine 😀

I wish you luck for March Brian & wish everyone to stay as well as can be x

My results last year were 88%, up from 50 ish % when I was recovering from my first flare up. I was told that I definitely still have COPD, but hopefully you may be different.

I was told readings over 70% were classed as a normal reading, mine were 82, still going to go to my usual nurse to verify.

Even if they don't classify you as having copd, you have gained an incredible insight into the condition and invaluable advice on how to slow it's progression and a very good MOT of your lungs to boot so i would call that a WIN WIN situation.congratulations and stay as healthy as possible. :) x

Like you, my FEV 1 has improved from upper end of moderate in 2015 to lower end of normal in 2018 and 2019. I am still classed as having COPD as the graph of my spirometry test clearly shows an obstructive curve going below the normal range half way through the blow. The improvement is in part brought about by the inhalers I use regularly, and in part by regular singing with the classes I run for singing for lung health.

All the best.
