Corona virus case in Phoenix AZ, 9 grandkids live there

A University student returning from Wuhan China returned to Phoenix AZ and became ill with Corona virus. I have 3 kids and 9 grandkids who live there! 😳😳

The virus spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezed. Officials say symptoms can appear within two to 14 days after exposure and consist of fever, cough, runny nose, and difficulty breathing. Currently, no commercial testing is available and there is no vaccine.

Urge everyone you know to follow advice on avoiding infections, limiting exposure to other people, handwashing etc. It is a risk for everyone because worldwide travel is so commonplace now. Keep yourself safe Apeter. Best wishes to you and your family.

Yes! You can be exposed to this virus and not show symptoms for up to two weeks. That’s a long time to expose others. One can see why viruses spread so quickly. Now many countries are sending planes to get their citizens out of Wuhan China. No isolation/quarantine is perfect. So just have to wait and see...Being inside a plane with all those people and germs circulating round and round is risky in my opinion. My youngest one year old grandson in Phoenix AZ looks sick and is running a fever. I worry but I do realize it’s probably not the Wuhan corona virus. His siblings bring home germs from school.

Hi Apeter

As already mentioned it is hard not to worry, but with your good advice I’m sure your family will do their best to stay safe. You may have heard of the Cambridge Mask or other similar brands, these are effective up to 99% apparently and against bacteria and viruses. They do come in various patterns and colours and also in children’s sizes.

There is a product called NasalGuard which can be rubbed around the nose, it’s a clear gel and seemingly it can help trap virus particles.

Sambucol is a nice flavoured elderberry supplement which may help boost immune system, it is suitable for children too and is quite sweet tasting.

I don’t know, but these may offer some protection. I know it’s not that simple trying to explain to children about such things.

Wishing you and your family all the very best, take care.
