I wanted to give you guys an update on my mothers lung transplant journey... Before reading, this is not intended to put any perspective lung transplant person off having a transplant. It is a factual view on what can happen after transplant. I am writing this as a means to manage the stress of the situation as anything else.
Complications
Since the last post my mother was trying to wean off the tracky she did and had the tracky taken out and moved to ward on December 2nd 19. However ... 6 days later we were back in critical care with my mother intubated. Multiple infections, chest drains, heart drains, 2 tracky procedures and 40+ days later we are in the a position where mum is trying to wean off tracky again but everything is that much harder second time around ...
She cannot stand at all, and i cannot begin to appreciate the amount of mental resilience it takes to carry on the fight everyday. The strength of character and fight she has shown is inspirational. I worry most of the time for her and hope she continues to keep the fight going.

Your Mum has a tough battle ahead of her,others like our dear Caspiana thankfully breathing wise made a fairly quick recovery but still face challenges with regard to the effects the anti rejection drugs bring,it is a journey for both the brave hearted but also their loved ones who give so much support but can only sit and worry,challenging for both of you but hopefully light will begin to glimmer at the end of that tunnel for you all.
Your dear mum has a hard battle to fight ahead of her, but she sounds a fighter so God willing all goes well. I'm sorry to read this. Unfortunately, the anti rejection medication and sheer volume of steroids , opens us up to infection. It's such a complicated balance. We can't live without these vile drugs, yet they also cause havoc. I cannot imagine how very tired all of you must be, especially your mum. Small steps and hopefully she will start to improve, all in her own good time.
I think I would choose a lung transplant b cause people with severe copd its like trying to breath through a straw with new lungs its a new lease of life but I am luky I have only mildish copd and fought it and found ways of defeating it hope you mum makes full recovery brave lass love and peace
What a brave woman your mum is Queenbean, lets hope she can climb this next hill quickly and be feeling a little better day by day. It must be hard on families watching your loved ones going through these struggles but great that you are there for her. I wish you and your mum all the best x
Well if you as your mother's daughter has inherited her physical and mental determination, then what a fortunate daughter you are. Lets wish Mum to have enough inner strength to keep fighting against all these medical issues.
If medals were to be given then your mother must definitely be up there with our beautiful @Caspiana, who living on her own (not forgetting her loyal buddie Chom) has now got 180+ days post op. Your mother needs rest to recover and lets be positive and wish her well at her own speed! Lots of gentle hugs, 🐿💕
