Hi, I would get professional advice from your respiratory advisor.

If you are getting more breathless and feel you need a nebuliser I think you should get checked over.

I can only tell you what I would do. I would most certainly use Albuterol if I had a cold or flu and my breathing got worse which it often does in those situations. I don't think any harm can come from using it if you can't breathe but you may need more than that. If you think you are having an exacerbation and have COPD + a cold or flu you want to get to get to the doctor or ER as you might need a round of antibiotics and prednisone to keep you safe.
