Just another day in the office

Every day is much the same when you have a lung disease

Inhalers, pills and mucus clearance until you feel at ease

Perhaps if you are daring you may attempt to check your sats

Though in my opinion those numbers are as reliable as cats

The pulse oximeter beckons if you dare to know the truth

Some are so sophisticated they can do it with bluetooth

Anyway our sats are over 88 and we are not yet blue in the face

So it,s time to climb those stairs but probably without much grace

The bathroom awaits but what perils await in there

A mirror that shows your looking old and with thinning hair

The shower is inviting though to enter it is quite hard

Cos if you've been on preds your packing too much lard

Anyway now you're squeaky clean and proud you achieved your goal

But you haven't got any breath left to clean out the plug hole

Down those wicked stairs you go to possibly break your fast

Or maybe you stayed in the bathroom to rid you of your past

The moral of this story is that we all encounter much the same

But the truth of the matter is that we have no one to blame

All we can do is struggle on and try and get through the day

Cos if we falter and lose our will to live there will be great dismay

Amongst the ones we love and in my case a little rescue cat

So we owe it to them to give it a go and that's really where we're at

I am sorry this is not as good as Master Po and Poems galore

And no doubt i will get replies saying please don't post no more

Have a nice Monday

Love Ski's and Scruff's

That is pure rhyming genius 😺 And yes, very heartfelt. Our cats and other animals 🐑 would miss us and we have to keep going for them, and get through the days when we think it would be easier not to. Hopefully not too many of those awful days. And our family and friends 😺🐑🏡 help us through those times. Though I've never been able to persuade any of my sheep to clean out the shower plug hole.

skischool in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Good morning HH,i and your sheep have been worried about you but we haven't bleated on about it,you must rest a little and negotiate a work package that best suits your needs or the scruffy one will venture northwards to savage your employer once she can find a suitably demonstrative emoji. :) x

Oh my I love it! I love the kitty too I have two gingers and a black so yes I owe it to them - but they don’t care! My yoga teacher said don’t forget those stairs are the best exercise- don’t move to a bungalow! Hmmm 🤔 ok I understand. Thanks again x

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to pepparuby1

Three cats dear pepparuby,?you are a woman of great strength and patience or just plain bonkers, your yoga teacher although obviously wise with words is obviously not an estate agent or doesn't have similar properties in their portfolio. :) x

pepparuby1 profile image
pepparuby1 in reply to skischool

Lol bonkers definitely my dear. My yoga teacher is an elderly man perhaps he’s bonkers too! I love my cats because they let me chat about anything without arguing or disagreeing with me! Little blighters are a bit fussy with their food though 🤷‍♀️

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to pepparuby1

I have never heard tale of a cat that wasn't fussy with food!perhaps with the exception of malnutritioned Puma on prednisone. :) x

O M G! A brilliant poem from skischool in it’s own thread, beautifully written and entertaining. I feel my task is done and I can rest in peace. {{{{{{man hug}}}}}}}}

Master Po,when i joined your order you taught me only of the beauty of the universe, and that i might float like a butterfly, there was no mention of 'Man Hugs'?

A rather worried grasshopper :( x

A move with the times, young Grasshopper. No doubt by the time you are ready to pass the baton on to your successor, a kiss will be appropriate. So steel yourself. 😉x

Reincarnation i can handle

But that kissing thing is a scandal!

Unless of course he is a she

Then that will be alright with me. :) x

So heartfelt Skis, we are with you on this one. My friend was told when she and hubby retired dont get a bungalow, your body need the stairs ha! think I would trade it in a heartbeat now. Keep your sense of humour, it is what sees you through, along with Scruffs of course. Now how are you getting along with this swallowing problem, have you got any further with it? Please give us an update x

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to Izb1

Dear Irene,i have an inexpensive house renovation tip for you.how to convert your house into a bungalow...live downstairs...it's costs nothing. The swallow remains evasive and the world is running out of chickens to make soup but the world is still round and the sun still rises so we must be content with that. :)

Love ski's and the plumper Scruff's x

Well I for one loved your rhyme skis. You’re better than you think. Throwing everything at it, except the kitchen sink.

This rhyming lark is catching!

Love to you and scruffs. Xxx😘

If truth be known dear Cassy your rhymes are far superior and often leave me weak at the knees,or is that just my hernia repair playing up again? :)

Good luck this week with Pete's medical visits and i hope they can make him more comfortable.

Love Ski's and the fragrant one xx

SH,your replies always delight me and your nuttyness is infectious, you would soon tire of daily ramblings from the Ski world and we will leave that task to the Master Po and Poems who are far better equipped in the rhyming department.:)

Love Ski's and a well rewarded Scruffy cat xx

Oh my, that's so touching it nearky made me 😪 shed a tear. Seriously, we are fortunate to have kept hold of some long, established members, some with different conditions but each and everyone of them, wants to "chat, rant, laugh, cry" and lots more and where better to do it, than on here amongst non-judgemental folk. As Tina Turner said ...."you're simply the best" and our family on the BLF is the best"better than all the rest"! Happy New Year to you and the everso loyal Scruffs! 🐿💕

That is brilliant . It has rhythm and rhyme

you could give the younger generation a lesson and rap to that!

Oh Jaybird, the mere mention of rapping sends shivers down my spine, far too aggressive and i shall stick to gentle ramblings if i may.:)

Loved that poem. I have 5 cats, 2 ginger, one much like the photo, his brother is skinny, one ginger and white one, one long haired black and white and one short haired black and white who is 20 this year.

They give me a reason to get up in the morning, get shopping etc.

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to judes

Judes with 5 cats you are even crazier than pepparuby1 and i think that would give me a reason to get up in the morning and keep on running for quite a long way.

But they obviously enjoy your company and reward you accordingly. :)

judes profile image
judes

All cats do is eat, play, sleep repeat! Tho I always know when I’m going to be poorly one of will not leave me alone and wants cuddles all the time. At night they keep me warm.

I never meant to have five it just sort of happened. 😁😁

Hi Skis

Your poem made me feel quite sad as it reminded me of my husbands daily struggle from waking up to finally coming downstairs after his exertions. How times have changed!

BUT what I really want to know is what is this chicken soup you refer to?

Take care my dear and hugs to Scruffy

Corin

X

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to Corin1950

Corin,it is something called Meritene a chicken flavoured soup powder mix, akin to complan with protein, vitamins and minerals, not many calories at just over 200 but recommended for cancer sufferers by macmillan as a build up snack, originally i couldn't even drink milk and my prescribed build up powders food link complete would stick in my throat so i had to purchase them, thankfully i can drink both now so i am getting at least 700 cals a day plus with another cup a soup and my cheesy wotsits almost a 1000 cals per day so i will be a right little roly poly in about 10 yrs time. :) x

Corin1950 profile image
Corin1950

Was interested because my husband is supposed to be trying to gain weight so he can have endobronchial valves fitted in April.

He eats very little and looks like Stick Man. If I could turn him into anything resembling a Roly Poly it would be amazing. He’s very fussy though so perhaps I’ll stick to Heinz Tomato!

Take care

X

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to Corin1950

I can recommend the Meritene perhaps mixed with a heinz chicken cup a soup or if hubby is seriously underweight get his consultant via the gp to refer him to the dietician so that he can be prescribed build up foods such as food link complete,i have the vanilla one with extra added fibre and it is not unpleasant mixed with milk and those 400 extra cals will go a long way in building him up for the procedure. :) x
