My Dad.

They say us northern lads

Tend to be too blunt

We don't intend to be like that

We just like to be upfront

My old Dad was a very kind man

But it was often said

He plods around in his hob nailed boots

Where Angels fear to tread

What a stunning wedding photograph of handsome young men and lovely ladies in beautiful dresses! The bride and groom look so happy bless them😔. I hope they were and had a good life 😀🍸💐

in reply to Gladwyn

They remained happily married until John died 1986 and Elsie 1996. 🤗

Good one Don . How amazed they would be if they could visit one day and see us walking around with phones and laptops, my parents never had a house phone even or a car.

in reply to joyce74

I doubt they would have approved of much that goes on these days to be honest. They did have a house, a phone and a car in later life, but had to work dammed hard to be able to afford those things.

Is that your mum? She has such a sweet face. Love the oversize bouquets as well!

in reply to Aingeful

Yep, that's my mum. I've written about her before, in fact, trying to find the link below I'm appalled at the number of rhymes, poems, whatever, I have written. It's a wonder I haven't driven you all away. 🤔

Oh 'eck, such a short one too. You'd think I'd be able to get that right wouldn't you. Thanks, poem. 😘

Love the expression "plods around in his hob nailed boots where angels fear to tread". As a Northern lass I'm surprised this is the first time I've heard it; put a smile on my face x

in reply to Dedalus

The line 'where angels fear to tread' was first written by Alexander Pope in his 1711 poem An Essay on Criticism. The hob nailed boot bit is mine which I hoped would make people smile. I only post my own stuff.😉x

I love all the old wedding photos the beautiful flowers and dresses they never had a lot but it went far and I would say

Pain makes you stronger

Tears make you braver

Heartbreak makes you wiser

So thank your past for a better future

Happy new year

Dear Don-1931,

I thing that, thy Dad, would be 'Right Proud' of that Lad! Couldn't Think of Better Poet neither.... How's my 'Northern' accent, is Champion, or Right Crap?

Seriously though, this is a Lovely Tribute, to a Much Missed Dad. Good photo too.
