UPDATE ON PREVIOUS PET CT SCAN.

Just an update on my PET SCAN. Previously I had two X RAYs and a CT SCAN.

Long time COPD sufferer and ex smoker, gave up 25 years ago.

I had the PET SCAN last week and to be honest quite an ordeal, when I got at hospital my radioactive glucose contrast injection was in London, so quite a wait as London is some 200+ miles from where I live. The scan was nothing.

I got a phone call yesterday morning - Nurse from hospital says consultant wants me to have another scan JUST A CT SCAN in 6 weeks time. Shadow was still on Left Apex, but another shadow high on my right lung.

So now in 6 weeks a CT scan to see what next. On the better side my PET SCAN was full body and what I have is confined to me chest..

I gave up smoking as I say 25 years ago and was never a heavy smoker,,, I would say to everyone never smoke and if you do - Try and stop...

Oh dear how very frustrating. that you still have no concise answer after waiting a week for results.

Yes 6 weeks, at least I have Christmas free of clinics and scanners.

Hi CDPO16. Sorry if my post explained wrong. I was in Preston and my Contrast Die was in London. I had to wait for the dye being driven up from London.. being radioactive some of these injections fail - and you have to wait for another batch.. Thank you for your comments.

Having re read your post, the error is mine but I envisaged you having the stress of travelling to London on top of everything else.

I live in NE Lanc's and am familiar with Royal Preston though not been a patient there. I'm sorry that you have to wait so long for the next scan but I hope that they are doing their absolute best for you. Carole x

Hi Carol - I Live in South West Lanc's and Preston Royal handle all the PET SCANS in the area. They told me people from Blackburn go to Preston Royal for PET SCANS. My local hospital will do the CT scan.. Which saves me a journey. I think you must live near to Blackburn coming from the NE, my daughter is a maths teacher in Blackburn.. Thank's for your remarks and both hospitals are treating me great.. I had to wait at Preston but not there fault the batch was late, being radioactive they make three checks before administering. After my next scan I will update again..

I live on the outskirts of Burnley, about 15 miles from Blackburn but Blackburn is one of my local hospitals. Glad that you will keep us posted.

Gingerboy1960 - Thank you. This PET SCAN is prone to delay with contrast going wrong - my next scan is like my previous, just a CT Scan at my local hospital.
