Kidney stone

Thursday as I got up off the couch I had a sharp pain. Had an appt to go see surgeon who set my arm so had to go - my daughter took me. the pain continued but the surgeon and his staff wouldn't do anything about it - not their area of expertise. Could not go home with pain like I was having so went to walk-in clinic. They sent me to the ER. I used the ambulance because you get attention more quickly when you arrive in an ambulance. By this time I was in unbelievable sharp pain. Dr in ER did a scan - saw kidney stones. Got morphine going. That helped but pain never let up so decided to keep me all night. Got established in a room still on morphine. It was midnight by now. Fell asleep Woke up at 3;00 am - pain gone. Evidently stone had passed. Urine had been saved and screened. Nurse showed me a tiny little stone - somewhat bigger than a grain of sand. I had heard of the pain that comes with kidney stones - believe it - it is the worst.

He is right - I have had 2 broken arms, broken hip, hip replacement, broken sternum, ruptured appendix, auto accident, nothing like kidney stone pain. Hope you never experience it!

Oh my Bettz . How awful for you. I have had one experience with a kidney stone some years ago. But I didn't know I had it till I went to the bathroom and I had never experienced such pain in all my life but it subsided as soon as it passed. I'm so pleased you are out of pain now. Do take it easy. Doubtless, you need a rest after all that. xx 🙋

My husband and his sister both suffer from kidney stones.

My husband has some large ones which are treated with antibiotics as he can’t have the laser surgery because of his breathing difficulties . They do not cause him any pain but darken his urine. His sister recently ignored a pain and ended up in intensive care as a kidney stone had got stuck in her urethra and she contacted sepsis. She was in hospital for over a week.

They can be very nasty and pain from them should not be ignored.

Glad you’re feeling better.

Take care

Oh! my word Bettz, that sounds awful, so glad it has gone. By the sounds of it you are in a pretty bad way with the auto accident. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery, take good care x

Sadly I do suffer from kidney stones. I do suffer from 3 of the 5 pain syndromes. But kidney pain is without doubt the most excruciating agony ever.
