Honesty.

I often wonder what I'd do

If I hadn't got COPD

I wouldn't be restricted

I'd be completely free

I'd go for climbing Everest

Or skydiving I would be

Or swimming across the channel

In a very stormy sea

I'd run a daily marathon

And do the fastest mile

I'd do a full months shopping

Without collapsing in a pile.

But if I am really honest

And can remember how

I wouldn't be doing very much more

Than what I doing now

You've hit the nail on the head Don. Probably very true! However, I do miss my badminton days. I now look forward to my short walks with my over 60 walking group when Im able. Particularly as we always end up with a meal and chat! Best wishes, Chrys

I've reached the stage were I can't decide whether it's COPD, old age, or just natural idleness that stops me doing things. More often than not it's just the pain from my bad hips.🙄

You maybe 88 Don

But you’re very young at heart,

You manage to get through the days,

And Midge? She plays her part,

Your poetry is wonderful

Always brings a smile

What would we do without you?

Please stay around a while.

Thank you Don, brilliant as always. Xxxxxx

If you throw yourself out of a plane

People around you will think your insane

Why run so fast there and back

To give yourself a heart attack

Climbing mountains is just plain silly

And up the top it's awfully chilly

That mega shopping trip won't please

Where would you put all those mushy peas

No rest dear Don and take your time

Watching the world go by it is sublime

Lazy Ski's and a sleeping Scruff's x

You really should get these published in a book. xxxx

in reply to wheezyof

If you click on my avatar to bring up my profile, then click on posts, you will get a list of them all for free. 🙂 Or do a search on ‘Midge’ and if I still haven’t bored you silly search on my previous name DonR. All for free, why on earth should I bother with a book? 😀xx

My husband enjoys me reading your rhymes out to him, I've even read a few to other members of my family. All of whom prefer a book to reading from a screen. If you did produce a book I'm sure other people on here would be interested.

We should start a survey, find out who would like your book.

in reply to wheezyof

You must recite my rhymes very well for them to be enjoyed so I appoint you my official reader. Contact your local radio station and tell them that you have some unpublished poems you could recite for their listeners and don’t do it too cheaply. 😬x There’s no way I’m going to spend my few remaining years/months trying to get a book together, but thank you for the compliment.😘

Reading this made me smile as only yesterday I said to my Hubby. I miss doing all the things I used to. If I didn't have COPD I would still be able to do them and I miss everything. His reply was it's not only the COPD its our age . I dont ever think of my age only my COPD and blame it for everything. xSheila.
