WSU study identifies a potential new target for treatment of gout.

Researchers at Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane and elsewhere have identified a new therapeutic target for the treatment of gout, a common type of arthritis that causes episodes of painful and stiff joints.

This is interesting. My dad really suffered from gout. It's something that is really quite misunderstood by many people, and brushed off as a minor side effect of too much alcohol! It was actually very painful for him. I hope this research will lead to a treatment.

Thanks for the link 2greys, I have gout or raised uric acid levels what ever you like to call it. This may not help me but it could help future sufferers, good to know research is occuring in this feild as it is a much maligned illness seen as self inflicted from over indulgance.
