Phage therapy for Pseudomonas colonisation in lungs associated with Bronchiectasis

Hi all, does anyone have experience of phage therapy to treat Pseudomonas colonisation in lungs? I know this is offered in Georgia and I am thinking about this as antibiotics are proving to be of limited value. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you

I don't know of it, but if you are in the UK search google Phage Therapy UK a few reliable sources come up about it.

If you live in another part of the world perhaps do same search followed by the state or region you reside.

Thank you. I am in UK and I believe this treatment is only available in Georgia and Poland.

you may have to look out for trials, first use in UK was reported on in May this year for a child with cystic fibrosis :- gosh.nhs.uk/news/first-use-...

Wot is this therapy would it help my Bronchiectasis as iv one hell of a cough after having a virus and it’s 2 months Carnot seam to get better

This has been discussed several times on here. It is a form of treatment developed in Eastern Europe during the cold war when that bloc had no access to antibiotics. There is a little research going on on England and they are s bit further on in the US. It is only available from a clinic in Georgia and is very expensive. Every course has to be tailored to the specific bacteria. Unfortunately it seems that as with antibiotics, the bacteria learn to evade them. My consultant asked- 'if these work so well, why has lung health in Easter Europe always been so terrible"

It is interesting and I am keeping an eye on developments as we bronchs must do in the hope that something comes along to replace the rapidly ineffective antibiotics available to us.

there is a petition here also: for Phage therapy on the NHS, it only has 75 signatures, it has to reach 10,000 before government will respond and 100,000 signatures before its is considered for debate in parliament. petition.parliament.uk/peti...
