This is the spot rumoured to be where King Canute The Great declared he could not hold back the tide, often misrepresented as "he tried to command the tide to halt".

Now that your trip is practically over I shall miss the photos and comments. When are you going away next?!!!

I will know more on St. Valentine's Day after I have seen my Oncologist, I don't want to tempt fate, this trip so very nearly did not happen at all. Let's just say, if possible, I would like to go again, of course.

Keep thinking positively, you inspire us.

I always imagined that taking place on a sandy beach somewhere. Wags say that it was Southport were the sea goes so far out you lose sight of it and it only comes right in on special high-tide occasions. Had he done it there it could have had the opposite effect to the one he was looking for. 😂

Its great that you have managed to get away after your recent pneumonia.

Some lovely sights to see probably helped you to heal that and your strong spirit.

I'm sure you will be off again in the future 💕X

When we moored there a couple of years ago, we were lucky to visit just as a local historian came to give a free guided tour of the site. Very interesting. Part of the site is still consecrated ground and once a year the bishop comes by boat to hold an outdoor service there.
