Nothing helping breathlessness 😒

After about 6 weeks of sudden severe breathlessness which only go when I take steroids, my fostair dose has been upped to 200/6 I have been also given encruse Ellipta also taking my salbutamol a few times a day but I’m still getting breathless when the steroids stop, so at the moment I’m no longer on steroids but still all these other meds are not helping does this mean my “situation “ has got worse? And how come only the steroids help? I don’t want to be reliant on these steroids helping me breath but my breathing is so uncomfortable without these, I’m trying not to give in but I have had three doses of them within a few weeks but the other meds is just not doing it 😟 is there anything else I can try and why is this happening ?

Sorry yea I have many, paraseptal emphysema with multiple bullae chronic bronchitis ( the medics are undecive if I have copd due to good readings ) chronic asthma, bronchial hyperreactivity with bronchial hyper responsiveness I know these can cause those broncospasms and chronic airway inflamation, my lungs are hyperinflated too so it could be anyone of these playing up but nothing has changed in anything I do I just don’t get it and it’s so tiring as well it’s starting to leave me mentally physical drained 😔

Poor you. Steroids are great at reducing inflammation . Most inhalers are for opening the airways (via muscles). Sounds as if u have much and persistent inflammation going on. You need Specialist help. Can you contact a consultant? Best wishes.

Do you have a respiratory consultant? If so, ask for an urgent appointment. Otherwise ask for a referral. If you are requiring frequent high dose courses of steroids there may be a case for a lower maintenance dose but that needs to be decided by you and your doctor. A low dose of morphine (or similar) is sometimes prescribed to ease breathlessness.
