Hi that’s a terrible experience for you especially when struggling with such a difficult and life changing condition. My own experience has been really positive and I although frustrated I’m still not better I have had really good care and conversations with my consultant who listens and makes me feel she understands.

I would go to your PALS office at the hospital or ring them and share your experience ... it does work the basic of care is communication and understanding not comments that make you feel worse.

NHS is there for us all and may not be perfect but we need it and need those at the heart to understand the patient experience.

Good luck with your recovery and don’t give up keep going back ask to see a different person there.

😄🤞

Ive had hospital transport for far away hospital appointments and the consultation wasn't much over 5min, if you ask for a change of consultant it probably won't go down well with them, so I wouldn't be too sure.

The last time I had to see my consultant I gave him a good telling off, like you I only saw him for 5 minutes. I really let rip on him and told him I had spent a good hour on the road getting to the hospital the n spent another hour trying to get a parking space only to be told I had missed my respiratory appointment a month before I told him I had not had one. Turns out he forgot to book it. Spoke to pals and did get an apology from him. Apparently I could have had my appointments at my local hospital 1/2 mile alway. Anyway like you I was on a large dose of prednisolone and struggled at first, what inhalers are you on. Over the last two years I have gradually reduced my prednisolone down my self I am on a maintenance dose of 7.5 mg a day.

If you have an infection then you will be on a high dose with antibiotics. But copd does not require long term use of prednisolone.I also have sarcoidosis of the lungs which is why I am still on prednisolone. If this is your first consultation he should have been more forthcoming with you ask your go if they have a respiratory nurse my surgery has and I ask them for the answer.

Sorry to be so long winded.
