[Carkaisabellacolin]

Hi all I was wondering if others with bronchectasis noticed that their condition started to deteriorate more for no apparent reason.

I really have begun to feel bruised and battered daily even simple bending leaves me breathless.

I have kept up my daily walking regardless of feeling awful during and after.

I am concerned the condition is becoming worse. Anyone else had this 😣

Hello, I have had bronchiectasis in both lungs for well over five years. I take colomycin antibiotic via a nebulizer. I haven't experienced any exacerbations like many of the people on here,a have and wonder why at times. . I do feel down at times though a nd my joints hurt. I am unable to join my walking group at the moment as my legs are quite painful. I don't know if it's connected to bronchiectasis. How long have you had it and have you had times you have felt unwell before or have you been quite well up until now?

I have had it for 20years I also have asthma as well. If i am honest my dr said that i have been very lucky upto now considering how bad my bronchectasis is. I have in both lungs . Severe in left.

I have been generally fit but just the last 2 years infections have increased and now the aching and tiredness last couple months.

I think the pain you are experiencing and the feeling of being off colour suggests inflammation in your body. My consultant said my body was fighting infection and the leg pains were the result.

I was thinking that myself. But not always that easy to pin point the inflammation. My Dr said I was wheezy the last time but he didn't want me to have antibiotics again. As too much can also make you tired. But the aching is often now and a worry. 😔

I know how you feel as you are describing how I feel at times. Sometimes the leg pains are just too much and I have to sit down even though exercise is important. I found cocodamol didnt help but Voltrol anti inflammatory suppositories did. Ask your doctor if you are able to try these to see if they help with the leg pain.

Yes, a Bronch since 2012, on & off cough over the years, to find since developing Polymyalgia Rheumatica in July & taking Prednisone daily, coughing everyday to expel thick mucus from my lungs, light in colour (sorry for detail), which in one hand is good better out, but debilitating too, hard on partner to hear all the time.

Am wondering if Pred is causing this, as never had these symptoms before, or as you imply, another stage of the condition.

Hope we can turn a corner soon G

Thanks sounds tough for you . Sorry to hear my dr is not keen on pred often as this he feels can weaken the system do only take when mucus is darker and cough stops me sleeping.

Seems like it's possibly the next phase

I will defiantly try and discuss it with him.

My consultant won’t prescribe prednisone as he says it invites other bugs in and lowers the immune system,have been taken off steroid inhaler also and touch wood have had no infections for nearly 4 months ,had them every 2weeks before that ! By the way I have bronchiectasis.

I heard that this med can do this . Good to hear your infection free. Over the weekend have been doing a lot of research and it seems that immune system plays a huge role in our condition.

As does the management factor.

I have managed to arrange an appointment Friday I will ask him more🤞

Now have nebulised saline and it has been amazing,if my mucus changes colour just nebulised an additional saline and upto now has kept the bugs under control xx

Yes thnx for this information. The Pred enables me to cope with PMR, but has adversely affected my Bronchiectasis, I believe. When I see the specialist next will discuss.

Defiantly do as although I felt better a bit with asthma. I was left zapped and just not right.

I work in Cyprus so have two Drs one in UK and one here . Both a little different with management. Not always easy with treatment of infections 😣
