I don't know what is wrong with me
But I've lost my inbuilt rhymer
I think I'm going to miss it
It was my social climber
Every body thought me great
What a clever lad is he
It seems that he can make things rhyme
No matter what they be
But now it's gone and finished
I'm just like all the rest
But Midge and Dolly and Scarecrow Sal
Will still think I'm the best. 😊

Oh heck! I missed a doctors appointment last week, first time in my life, just fell asleep in my chair and was an hour late when I awoke.
The sleep was probably even more beneficial than the doctor would have been Cap'n x
I find I’m sleeping almost as much as Midge does these days. 😴😴😴😴

I'm wide awake and restless in the middle of the night
Even while not at home I can't escape this plight
It's too bad we can't exchange some of our states of sleep
I'd sleep a while and your appointment you would keep.
One reason for my waking is I've eaten some strange food
But to run now to the bathroom could be rather rude
Disturbing everyone from their nocturnal rest
Just because my stomach decided to protest.
Why I can't go back to sleep, this is the biggest culprit;
I'm trying to think of what rhymes with toilet.

If you read the poem aloud you will realise why I wrote the words separately. 😉 Not that it matters, it sounds so arrogant I wish I hadn't written it at all.
I don't imagine anyone on here would think you could ever be arrogant Cap'n, you are far too nice an individual for that label - I did recite it out loud however the penny has yet to drop
It's about rhythm;
Every, body, thought me, great
1and 2and 3and 4.
Pronounce clearly, syllable by syllable. Each beat 2 syllables except the final beat.
I write these things by the seat of my pants, I'm no expert so I might well be talking rubbish here if you can even understand it. 🤔

Ah Don , In my book you are the best rhymer of all, sometimes we all get a bit of brain fog which soon will disappear and we start afresh.
Dear Don if you cannot rhyme for now just participate and it will give you ideas to rhyme or maybe we put pressure on you to carry on. Whatever you do it will be nice to hear from you anyway x
many years ago my son was struggling to do some "homework" given to him from his infants class. It was a page of arithmetic . He sat at the table staring at the work. So I asked him what was the matter and why wasn't he doing it. So he told me " Mum, the part of my brain that does sums, has gone on holiday" and Im only left . May be your word rhymer has taken a vacation.

You don't always have to be on top of your game Don. Even Shakespeare had his "lost years" we have no idea what he was up to, probably making babies 😀 and moving to London, but no writing that we know of. Despite penning War and Peace and Anna Karenina, Tolstoy suffered writers block for months and years!! So take heart Don.We will eagerly but patiently await your next instalment , but not till you are ready. It's worth waiting for. Have a lovely weekend. xx 🍀🌿
As much as I fancy moving to London for a while and making a few babies, dear Cas, I really don't think that I have anything at all in common with Shakespeare or Tolstoy. Alas I'm just a common type that needs a kick up the backside every now and then. I have much to be grateful for and one that I cherish is the fact that I lived long enough to witness you receiving that long awaited phone call, followed a successful op.
