Hi everyone well the saga continues where do I begin ? I had a tribunal 7th August won mid rate care so I could have my carer stay with me and not pay all my rent and council tax now instead of paying £42 a yr towards my council tax it's now £129.20 when I asked for explanation which I didn't understand I was told by Alana from the council she would send me a letter in simpler terms (pationsing woman) and now I've had a possession order as they haven't paid the rent they were supossed to on the 20th august I'm seriously ill with empyhsemia and high blood pressure can anyone help I rang cab who now use the national debt line then your passed to specialise debt people on hold for an hr and a half guess what I didn't get to speak to anyone 😠

Try the BLF helpline...they have a benefits advisor.

03000 030 555.

Also you could try your local councillor for advice.

Sending best wishes to you.

Hi how awful. How about contacting Age UK or Help the Aged. They should be able to help you. There is also your local MP. Mine helped me out enormously a couple of times.

Or maybe the BLF helpline? x

Speak to Shelter, they are really helpful. I’ll find the number for you when I get home.

Do you have a social worker involved in your life?

in reply to crashdoll

Yes she arranged for a cleaner for me I've got such a headache right now why put us through all this unnecessary pressure 😠 thankyou to everyone for your replies

So sorry to read this. What a dreadful situation for you to deal with.

Hope you are able to contact some of the agencies mentioned above to sort this out.

Take care and best wishes

WHY do they make people who are ill jump through hoops to get what they are entitled to.

It saddened me to hear your story, but, people have given good advice, however, I would say to you DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH waiting for a phone call from the council, pick up pace and start the chase.

Wishing you well.

Tom.

Well chase started eventually heard back well rent paid 9 days after council said it was paid repossion stopped but next council tax problem when my son who is my carer moved with me we had a man from the council come here went through loads of questions including his wages unbeknown to either of us I was getting 25% discount as my son as my carer wasn't counted no no no appantly they let 4 yrs slip by as guess what they want that back that was the council tax bill that I ended up last week arguing with them who said I'd recieve a letter 6 days now still haven't got telling me why I owed it today I spent 20 mins and on hold to a delightful woman who explained so even me lol could understand no one mentioned a 25% discount was the reason behind why I owed £129.20 this year instead of £42 I said I'm sending in a complaint do not suspend me again unfortunately she couldn't say if they would so will have to pay and hope they will pay back as only get double that amount a fortnight to live on I got no apology for other woman putting phone downumber on me or the stress of receiving possession order becouse of this idiot not doing his job properly or no one picking it up ive got esa assessment then univerbal credit to deal with next if i can deal with the stress so bloody angry I really am it's not necessary saw amber rudd on a Google page saying when u drop your kids off school for the Ist time I'll help all u mothers get back to work jesus the smiling assassin is after 5 yrs old parents working although my daughter only got 9 mths off twice god help this country if i had the money I'd leave Britain 😢

I understand your frustration, but in a lot of other countries you would get no help at all

in reply to Dedalus

I'd say I'm lucky to live here but at the moment I don't feel that lucky can anyone answer this if i have a carer live with me who is not counted then surely I'm entitled to the 25% council tax discount any thoughts in the carers UK link and my councils website it says I'm am but there saying no your not pay it back the last 4 yrs ?

Get advice from BLF, age uk or whoever you can. If you have been underpaying, through the other peoples mistake, then you can pay any arrears in very small amounts.

I did she agrees with me they have made a mistake I'm awaiting their reply to the link I sent them hun
