Copper Bracelets.

I have a copper bracelet

That a good friend made for me

I used to wear it all the time

So that he could see

That I did appreciate it

And thought it very kind

But whether I believed in it

I wasn't so inclined

Sadly my friend passed away

And I left my bracelet off.

I noticed shortly afterwards

An increase in my cough

Aches and pains then showed themselves

I was feeling really rough

Did bracelet have some mystic power?

Or is this just a bluff?

I came to the conclusion

That I didn't really care

But I'll tell you this for nothing

My bracelets staying on there.

Keep that bracelet on Don,

No need to leave it off

It does some good by being there

And may even help your cough.

Brilliant as always Don. Enjoy your day. Xxxxx 💞😀😘

Morning Mr.D and quite right .... Best to keep brackets on! My son swears by his one......he never takes it off and claims it has helped with his RA. Are you venturing anywhere nice today with your ladies?💞

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

Only shopping today SH. The start of my gallivanting season is the day after the children go back to school. 😊

Quite right so Mr.D! The roads are less busy and typical head-to places aren't heaving with children!(That's no disrespect to any children/parents with smaller offspring). So looking forward to hearing all about your antics in a few weeks😀

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

It's most unfair on parents that the prices go sky-high whenever schools have a break. But that's market forces at work and I was a parent once. Ironically I get hit with the 'single-supplement' now.

It seems to me Mr.D,that you pay through the nose like you say,if you've got children and want to take a family break during the holiday season.👪 You also pay "extra" if you are booking a vacation for just one person 👨and if you add any disability ♿ requirements into the mix, well that can cause more 💷💴money too 😡. Pet friendly 🐕🐱 holidays may be not the best accommodation due to "the pet" and then there's ...........

..........more when the holiday requires insurance 😠.....the difference between insurance companies is shocking!! Stop me now before I blow a gasket 💥 lol 😂😂😂.

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

That's why caravans and motorhomes are becoming more and more popular. 🚐

Must invest in one x

My friend was a plumber who maintained that only pure copper worked, so he made his bracelets out of off-cuts of copper pipes. It was his hobby when he retired and he became very good at it. He also made dog collars which people reckoned worked well on arthritic dogs.

How fab, did he make one for Midge?

in reply to Izb1

No Midge is still pretty agile and a copper collar like he made would be too heavy for her.

I had a copper bracelet, I wore it all the time

It made my skin go quite green like a brightly coloured lime

It got me kindly comments, people thought I’d hurt my arm

It made me so embarrassed saying I’d not come to harm.

After months of sympathy and green stains on my sleeve

I had to take off what had become my pet peeve.

(Ok the last line doesn’t really work, and it hadn’t really become a pet peeve though it really did make my skin green. I do think it helped, too. Some people say it’s nonsense but even if it’s all in the mind, if it works does it matter why? Anyway another great rhyme, thank you Don)

Oh my goodness, serious repetition of the word Really 🙄

So our famous alien piglet wore a bracelet made of copper

I expect she wore it all the time whilst sitting on her space hopper

Now our dear Don from planet earth still wears his mates kind gift

Even though on occasions that green stain is hard to shift....:) x

in reply to skischool

I don't get green stains at all. Mine is more of a bangle than a bracelet. Quite heavy, moves around as its a lose fit and therefore doesn't get sweaty under it. I keep it on all the time, washing and showering.

Remind me never to bump into John Paul at a party,he sounds somewhat obsessive and i am sure he would not be impressed by my collection of 15 & 22 mm copper olives and associated pipework.. :)

in reply to skischool

He had me wondering what the Pope was doing flogging bracelets for a second. 🙄

I have a bracelet in a mix of semi precious stones all meant to have healing properties, and a chunk of healing crystal (given by friends) we were the hippy era after all, not sure if they help, but wonder if I might be worse without, so still keep them.

in reply to SORRELHIPPO

That's the point isn't it. You might poo hoo the silly idea that they work, but who dares to take 'em off? 🙄

I have a copper bangle -

I wear it all the time.

Nail varnish coats the inside

So my arm always looks fine.

Our late dog suffered from bad arthritis. The Pro at my golf club recommended a magnetic dog collar. I'm quite sure that he (the dog) had no idea why he had a new collar but the difference was amazing - I was able to stop his medication for two years. Eventually neither it nor the medication worked but he did have an extra two pain free years.

If the copper bracelet works for you, do wear it. There has to be some good unknown reason why it works.

LATE ARRIVAL

Dear ladies (& Don) of the sculptured word,

your poetry I've envied.

I, too, had thought along these lines

but now I must concede.

I find as I begin to pen

brilliancy ends because I've read it.

If that won't suffice, I soon admit

one of you must have said it.

I begin again with confidence

ignoring all your lines.

But sorting out the choicest words,

I can't distinguish yours from mine.

Although this note's belated

in offering on my praises,

I'll give you credit for saying things well,

but you've used up all my phrases.

What's left for me but yearn and burn

and maybe a little moon.

Perhaps if you had written less,

I'd not give up so soon.

Oh, Emily D. and Dorothy P.,

how eloquent your verse!

But think how different it might be

if I had been here first.
