Prescription annoyance

Looking for some help / advice on my repeat prescription as the pharmacy I receive it from are not very helpful.

I get me regular repeat monthly but my nebuliser medication has been now added. I have to get this medication weekly, is this common practice and if so why?

Some prescriptions are distributed in a certain way to prevent drug abuse, cost of the drug, etc.

I know, I have certain drugs that repeats can't be given all together, as the government drug supplier, has dicta6it is too expensive, & will blow their budget.

Some drugs, like nebulizers, can literally be lifesaving! They would rather you were over supplied, I.e. you could run out at 12.11am, while halfway down some isolated country highway, & can't get replaced easily!

Soooo! An expensive night of helicopters etc. To sort you out,in the hospital system INABILITY TO BREATHE is Top Priority.

All I know is that Petes nebuliser drugs are monthly just like everything else. I’d query that. Xxxx

I get my nebs whenever I ask, whether its a month or 3 months I even got some once when I hadn't even requested them. I only use one a day so don't need too many at a time.

Hi I would ask for it to be done monthly and see what they say. My biggest bugbear is the monthly ones are only 4 weeks, and because I am forgetful I try and remember to order them on the same date each month which means I often run short. I have solved this though by dropping the odd pill for a day here and there so have built up a small supply. x

If you have an iPhone you can setup a recurring reminder for every four weeks to be reminded a few days before the prescriptions run out. I assume Android phones have the same feature.

I only get out of the house when I have a doctors appointment, so, if it is after lunch, I usually don't forget! However, l forgot my night pills last night!

I have a blister pack, it lasts for a calendar month, I have 13 pills plus Anoro ellipta to take in the morning, & 6 pills at night in it's own seperate pack, I have only forgotten my night pills, twice, since getting blister packs, a couple of months ago!

My doctor authorized 3 months supply, it turned out, my chemist lives only a suburb away, & she delivers to my door.

It might not be the pharmacy's fault the prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy by your doctor at regular intervals, mine send them weekly for my dosset box, perhaps your doctor sends some weekly but the nebs monthly. Keep smiling.

Hi, Interestingly my pharmacist recently questioned me about my nebulizer medication. She asked some questions such as Will I be taking it long term, how often I take it and do I take more in the Winter. I assume it's because of the worry of Brexit and they are trying to order in advance. You may have to get it weekly to demonstrate you are a regular user and will be using that chemist. Ultimately they are probably trying to plan ahead.. However, if your pharmacist is so unhelpful why not use another one. It is important we feel comfortable to talk about anything related to our problems.

I get my nebuliser meds monthly. My immunoglobulin has just been reduced from 3 monthly to 2 monthly which I’m told is political. It’s in short supply as powers that be tried to batter down the price and the supplier went to sell elsewhere. Therefore could be down to shortage in your area. Very frustrating for you though
