Dyspnea when at rest?

I have been diagnosed with mild copd 84% fev1 after bronchodilator! I also have asthma! I seem to be suffering from breathlessness when at rest but not seem to have much issues when exercising. I.e. i can run 10 Miles ok. It also disappears when I'm distracted does this sound like anyone elses symptoms with mild copd? It seemed to start after my spirometry test where I was advised to take fostair 4 times per day I.e. twice morning and night. Wondering if it's the fostair potentially?

Some on here say the forstair affect their breathing see if you can have a different inhaler

Thanks for your reply will def speak to doc about it. Worth a shot I suppose, may also just be anxiety 🤷‍♂️ Just wondering if anyone else with mild copd has this issue. Like at what stage should you be breathless sitting down?

What I am beginning to learn is we are all different I can be sitting and suddenly I get a little breathless.. Some times it is due to stress..see Dr see if you need to change your inhaler it may just be that.

Fostair made my breathing worse also caused panic attacks .quite a few other side effects also. I stopped it myself thank goodness and my Respiritory nurse agreed it has caused my symptoms . Went back on previous inhaler, now no problems . Sheila.

Hi I have been diagnosed with mild COPD I only get breathless when walkng and mild exercise or house work.

I did not find the Fostair any help you just have to keep trying till you find the right one for you

Why would you take anything at 84% and able to run 10 miles? Some COPD/emphysma isn't helped at all with inhalers.

I have asthma as well and I do need my blue inhaler often.

Man this is all very confusing! I'm in the uk and both my asthma nurse and doctor dont seem to have an issue with the fostair. But people on here think it's bad?!? I think it's about time i get someone else to review my entire case.

The reason given at the time was that after my spirometry test I only improved 200ml of Fev1 after bronchodilator. which Is not a great response and so therefore should try a steroid inhaler. I was given Beclometasone (brown inhlaer) which caused me wheezing problems after I took it. I was then given fostair 100/6 later on and advised 2 puffs morning and 2 at night. Is this over kill? I did tend to use my ventolin inhaler around 2-3 times a day for asthma. Which I believe is another reason I was given fostair. 🤷‍♂️ I'm in Scotland UK. I'd hope the doctor I'm seeing knows what he Is doing!?!

I can’t use Fostair because it makes my atrial fibrillation worse ( I have bronchiectasis and obliterative bronchiolitis) so my consultant prescribed QVAR, which is generally used for asthma, which I don’t have. If you explain to your doctor they will try to find something more suitable . Their aim is generally to help you feel better!
