Hi I've been diagnosed with bronchiectasis, i am nearly 70 years old . This condition has caused me to be in hospital lots of times because of pseudomonas, i had Pink disease as a child , i am on lots of medication , some of which i wish i didn't have to take , but hey ho if it keeps me out of hospital i will do anything. I have just come home from hospital again , i am now given antibiotics through a drip , which help a lot , one thing that amazed me was the fact that one of the doctors had actually heard of Pink Disease , usually i get looked at with a blank stare. !!

So interesting! I am 69 and am one of those who had bronch from an early age with no explainable cause. A few years ago I read of someone who had bronch from pink disease caused by the then new diptheria vaccination. I told my con thinking that she wd laugh. She said she wasn't laughing as it was very probable and that govts have known and covered it up hoping that we wd just die off and not cause trouble. I wonder how many others of us made it?

That very interesting too. I'm a similar age and have quite a crater in my thigh muscle caused by diphtheria jab. Do you remember the huge needle they used in our childhood? Terrifying!

Hope your adventure was brilliant. P

Hello and welcome to you dillydripping.

It is very interesting indeed as is Littlepom's reply. I'd never heard of pink disease either so have looked it up....pink disease = Infantile Acrodynia believed to be caused from exposure to mercury and very prevelant in the 1st half of the 20th century. It seems mercury was in many products including tooth powder. I know we're not that old but it does make you wonder what was in the injections we were given in our young days when our parents were so thankful for the inoculations against diseases such as diphtheria and polio.

I know my daughter was horrified 8 years ago to find the baby flu vaccination contained formaldehyde (I don't know if it still does). As baby Daisy had already had chest infections & bronchiolitis she always has flu vaccination.

I hope that when the Pseudonomas has cleared you can get to use Azithromycin as a preventive as least through the winter months. Many of us take it on three days per week Nov/Dec to April.

Kind regards, Peege (asthma and bronch).

The first diptheria injection qas floated in mercury but changed very quickly when children began being affected- a scandal I guess

Hi Maggie, I have lifelong asthma, COPD and Bronchiectasis- I HAVE NEVER SMOKED, I’m on antibiotics all the time, changing them three weekly, and they help, but don’t ever stop the colonised bugs! My sister had Bronchiectasis too and had part of her lung removed aged 8, so possibly a familial thing for me! I hate hospitals and will do anything to avoid them, even though I nursed for 30+ years in surgery!! I’ve tried all kinds of alternative treatments to no avail, so I just do what I can now, which isn’t much. I try to take pleasure from my dogs, who I adore, but can’t walk anymore, coffee with friends when I’m up to it, and a lovely daughter and grandson! I’d never heard of pink disease either, and I’ve come across most conditions. It may be that my sister and I were affected by the vaccination, and yes I still have a huge scar from mine too! Big hug 🥰
