My Respiritory Nurse suggested steaming Olbas Oil to loosen mucus. You can put a few drops in a bowl of hot water and breathe in. Put drops on handkerchief. I have put a few drops of Olbas Oil on my Humidifier on bedside table. Left on a few hours and can honestly say dropped off to sleep 10.30pm last night and slept right through till 8am this morning. No choking or coffin or panic attack.hope it continues and hope it helps someone else who has a problem with thick sticky mucus that sticks in throat. I never had it until I was put on Fostair so hopefully will clear soon as now off Fostair. I also use Sterimar Decongestant night and morning. Nurse said salt water is good. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. I am feeling great thank goodness. Hope it lasts.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Sheila.

Eucalyptus oil works well too. I find Olbus oil too overpowering but quite like the freshness of eucalyptus x

Hello, What a good idea. I will certainly give it a try, especially as I rarely get a good nights sleep. Howeever, it may be useful for other bronchiectasis sufferers to know that

I use an ACAPELLA. This is a small hand held object that helps you to cough up phlegm. I was given one while attending the hospital and taught how to use it. You learn how to huff in a certain way then blow hard into it. It definitely works and I have used it for two years now. Hope this proves useful to other sufferers.

Well my mucus has disappeared also my cough .sleeping right through and breathing great. Certainly has worked for me so hopefully help someone else. I think the humidifier is great as steam is good. Already this morning. Have cleaned all Windows in house , washed floors and still going well. Feeling fab.xx Sheila.

I have read that gargling warm salt water is good for getting rid of the sticky stuff in the throat. I too use olbas oil though in a bowl of hot water never thought of putting it in a humidifier. Keep active x

It's just so much easier. Don't have to lean over bowl. I have my Humidifier on my bedside table with the steam coming out towards my face. So easy and effective. Well for me anyway. Hope you find it the same.xx Sheila.

I really rate the sterimar contestant relief spray. Can be bought more cheaply off prescription. Love steam inhaled essential oils to.

I am back on Sirdupla which I have taken for 8yrs and no problem so don't know why my Consultant changed it yo Fostair. I was really ill with Fostair but didn't realise that it was the cause of all my symptoms

Much better now back on Sirdupla. If it's causing problems stop taking it as quite a lot have said it didn't agree with them.x Sheila
