The musical has been revived and is doing a 50th anniversary tour at the moment.Hard to believe its been that long. This time around I doubt the nudity, drugs, hippies, homosexuality or the music will cause the same contraversy.Round about the time of Woodstock I believe too...The youngsters probably think of our generation as being a load of boring old fogies, how wrong they were.... :-) Wow how the world has changed. We could certainly do with more peace and love now in these troubled times.

Got a bit carried away there...I will now take the flowers out of my hair, stop dancing, put my shoes back on and sit back down in my comfy old fogeys chair :-) :-) xx

I was an Original Mod Girl, Then Taught my son (2nd Generation Mod) everything about Lambrettas and how to Dress it up , and the Mod Clothes we wore. Now my Granddaughter at Uni is asking me all about the 60's Scene for her "Design & Photography Course" We have had many a laugh with my outrageous outfits of the Era. She is at Glastonbury right Now. Things Don't Always Change. Have a Great Friday. XXXX

I remember all the mods coming to partys at our house in the early 60s , I remember the scooter guys and girls , I was to young to own one then and I was a little skinhead then , I got my musical taste from my oldest brother he was a soulie too ( I found his twisted wheel membership a few years ago) , I also remember all the hippies who all seemed really old to me lol and the biker gangs , looking back it was a good time to be young but we all say that dont we

Hacienda profile image
Hacienda in reply to soulboy118

I loved to Watch the Hippies and maybe pretended to be one, But my Mum wouldn't let me become a Full member, although She was a Hippie herself. She allowed me to be a "Mod" and bought me my First "MOD Suit" I was a bit Anti Rockers, though Loved their Music and the Leathers, When I started work I bought a Pair of Leather Trousers , Loved them, I was a bit of a Miss/match. Yes, we do all say that "The good days". 100% They were. XXXX

I remember admiring those well dressed mods ( boys and girls) and the hippie girls just seemed so free and approachable ,the bikers were a different kettle of fish ,definetly not to be messed with as a teenager, over time I got to know them all with going to school with their younger brothers and sisters so it made my life easier being a skinhead living in a predominantly biker area lol I did enjoy that time with no responsibilities, I'm smiling thinking about those days now and I still go out with old mates from those times

My bro in law went to isle of wight with a sleeping bag rolled up with string hung on his shoulder and a ten bob note. His daughter just went to Glasto in her beamer with a mini popup tent, a phone and credit card.

Yes. Look at the return of vinyl. That's when you know you are old. When you lived through the original times and it's trendy again!

soulboy118 profile image
soulboy118 in reply to Lemon7

Same with northern soul , I lived and enjoyed the early 70s when it was very popular ( as it was in the 60s during my brothets time although it wasnt called that back then) ,vinyl is very big in the ns community ,some of the records are changing hands at several hundred pounds amongst djs as all us old soulie have reconnected with it , it has had people searching through their old vinyl collections for those rare and expensive gems

‘Ain’t no Sunshine when she’s gone ‘ is one of Bill Withers and although kinda sad it’s ORSM I know I know I know I know I know, I know I know I know I know I know ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone and this house don’t feel like home dum mm dum mmm dum dum

And it turns out it really is a singer not a duck illness. Bill Withers that is. Boom boom

The Sun has got his hat on....Hip, Hip, Hip Hooray….. Sun, Sun, Sun, Here it comes.... Dancing in The Sun, Sun, Sun.....Just three more, without really thinking. How about Son of my Father, different sort of Son? 'Sun Arise', in the Morning....there are 'Hundreds'! Not to mention, our Dear Lord, The Son Of God.

‘Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon ‘ by the Small Faces (not sure actually title or band!) Tom Jones did a good version with someone (I think. Font of uncertainty this morning I am) .

Hot in the City; Billy Idol and ‘Hot town, summer in the city, back of my neck getting dirty quickly...’ no idea who that was. Starts ; dooooooda. Doooooooda!

I am loving these memories. Was playing some VINYL records the other day. Blues Brothers; Made in America; Joe Cocket: WALHFMF; Stones; 1st hits album (Satisfaction etc) ahhhhh huddle crack scratch happy days

To clarify; the aforementioned ‘crack’ is one of the noises the record player makes, not the modern version referring to the evil drug ‘crack’. Which is very very nasty and evil.

AndrewT profile image
AndrewT in reply to Phil40

I know what you mean about...erm, hang on....yes...quite..erm...oh yes 'Uncertainty', that's when you can't decide about....where was I? Oh yes Uncertainty, that's it😋

Seriously though Phil, we ALL get days like these- cue Car Crash in Tunnel-where we can't remember 'Diddly Squat'. The day Started 'Well', at least the Alarm went off...on Time! However, it didn't last, did it....You either put your foot, in the 'Go-zunder' or Caught it on the Wheel/ Leg of the bed. Either way, not a Good Start, the Hot water (HOT water, what a joke) had some 'Stuff', in it- didn't smell too bright either did it? Come to think of it...Just what 'On Earth' is Down the Loo? (not to worry, you will be Showering soon, you can 'Go' in there....) Couple, all this, with a 'Doggy' Kettle, Burnt Toast and a Car that won't start......Just go back to Bed, it's Safer!

Have a Good day Phil....Best Wishes

Mr Blue Sky is at the beginning of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 film. Fitted in really well to the pretty comedic fighting of the enormous monster opening of the film. Actually, I advise everyone to watch every one of the Marvel Universe films ( the recent Avenger/Iron Man/Hulk there are about 20) It will improve your quality of life. Especially Scarlett Johansson. Forget the films. Just watch anything with Scarlett Johansson in,

Apparently Scarlett Johansson is filming a Black Widow prequel this year. Which I am looking forward too. But I think I have seen everything else that she has been in. Sad but true. Don’t tell my wife or I’m a dead man

I can’t blame you for liking Thor tbh, he has got it all going on, looks, totally stoked body and great sense of humour. Ragnorak has to be one of the best action/comedy I’ve seen. The director is Taiki Waititi or similar, also plays Korg the rock guy. An extremely funny Kiwi. And Cate Blanchett! Wow! I am such an Avenger’s Nerd don’t care

You are the Sunshine, of my Life, you will be forever beside me (I think that's how it 'Goes'). Son (shine) of my Father...Ok BIT of a 'Stretch' perhaps 😋. This might, very well, have been mentioned before but....Sun Arise, in the morning....(not quite 'Sunshine', but still) Dancing in the Sun, Sun, sun...

By the way soulboy118...'You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine, you make me Happy, when Skies are grey, You never know Dear how much I Love you, please don't take my Sunshine away'.

'Let the Sun Shine, Let the Sun Shine In, The Sun Shine in', from Hair, great Musical, mostly 'Happy' but with a VERY sad ending😢.

Ain't no Sunshine, when she's gone....I don't know the rest, someone?

You can check all lyrics on Google AndrewT , b4 Google I found most records I'd been singing along to I had been singing the wrong lyrics lol

AndrewT profile image
AndrewT in reply to soulboy118

Dear soulboy118,

Then there are 'Those' where you sing, the wrong Lyrics, on Purpose....Spare him his life on his PORK SAUSAGEE (Bohemian Rhapsody), for example. Just One Cornetto, after THAT advert. One of the Conductors, of- I think- The Royal Symphony Orchestra, was Playing 'The Nutcracker' to a group of School Children and realised that he had a Chorus 'Going On'. "Everyone's a fruit and nut case..... Others include 'Vitelite' for the Israelite, and sometimes just a piece of music- think Hovis, for example.

The Power of advertising NONE, of us, are affected at all are we? 'For Mash Get Smash', NONE at all 'A FINGER OF FUGE IS JUST ENOUGH, TO GIVE YOUR KIDS A TREAT' NOT in the least! I can't remember a single Advert from my youth, I mean, can you? No definitely NO 'Glass And A Half, In Every Bar' 'Only The Crumbliest Flakiest Chocolate, Tastes Like Chocolate Never Tasted Before' 'Do The Shake And Vac And Put the freshness Back'.....NO NOT ONE ADVERT!

Is YOUR Memory, this bad too?
