Asthma or copd

Hi, I'm a 36 year old Male, previous smoker of around 18 years, quit for 3. Currently under investigation by the local hospital for asthma.

18 months ago, I all of a sudden became short of breath, literally within minutes, with no explanation. This lasted for around a week. Then I was fine, running 6 miles a day as per, until a month later, when the same thing happened. I became extremely tight chested and breathless within minutes, but it lasted for months, and 18 months later still hasn't returned to normal. It is better than it was, I'm running again, gym etc, but it's still not right. Some days I feel great, others not so great. I'm currently being investigated for asthma, I'm on ventolin and fobumix inhalers, which don't do a great deal. I'd like a ct scan on my chest, but not sure how to get one. I've had a spirometery and lung function test, both of which were great. I just done get it. One minute great, the next like this. Anyone similar?

Thanks, Luke

Have you tried an events and symptoms diary, to see if there were similar triggers to the two events: e.g. time of year, weather, change of furniture, change of diet? All the best.

grasp,as,was given 5 yrs. Its not that l am ungrateful,

but like most people l think, the more you get the more

you want. But if that is what you want, you have to work

hard at it,and get your Dr. bothering the Hosp's.Make sure

you know when another medication is available.Keep weight

down, says he now topping 16 st.

Read ALL ABOUT IT.

Put it like this Bingo,l wake up in the mornings !!! And it is good to be alive.

Breathing after medication is not great, and l try exercising with the rubber

strip you use in rehab. If l do nothing but use the computer, all is well. But you

cannot have a life doing that.So my quality of life is poor.and worse than when

l was at stage three.Forget Stem Cell unless they are using them in a better way.

Spent £12,000 going to Germany to have it done.
