Have you got copd? If so, that will be playing up on everything! Your stomach! Heart! Bowel! Everything!!!

You WILL learn, no matter how stubborn you are, your life is different now, "not over" by a long shot! But, changed! Small meals, just dish up what you normally have, then divide it up into two or three servings, & a couple hrs apart, but, DON'T eat, say, 2/3 hrs before bed, you will fart, burp etc, all night.

If you don't listen, you will be out around town, somewhere.....& WHAMHO!

I always get up a couple hours early, so, my "system " wakes up, & I get to use the toilet, first time ####! Then 2nd time, I sit on there for maybe 1/2hr, to make sure my tank is empty, before, I go anywhere.

Hi. I think you really should see a GP as it could be anything besides IBS.

Once you've been diagnosed you'll be able to treat it appropriately.

Sounds very similar to my IBS. Mine was triggered 35 years ago by a bad bowel infection, which left me unable to tolerate high fibre foods. After 25 years, another bowel infection corrected it for 5 years. Now I can eat fibre, but seem to have fructose intolerance - my consultant suggested a low FODMAP diet (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOD... after a colonoscopy showed nothing wrong, and that seems to have improved things. But IBS is a difficult nut to crack, affects 25% of the population in different ways, so there's no "one size fits all" solution.

Hi I think first you need to get it checked out by your doctor to confirm it is IBS. I have had IBS since I was 11 years old (I’m now 72 years young) mine started shortly after my dad passed away. Back in those days I don’t think anyone really had any idea about what IBS was I don’t even think it was recognised so much so that when I was 19 I had my appendix out as the doctors thought this would solve my bouts of diarrhoea.guess what it didn’t. Several years ago my GP copied some information out of one of her medical books regarding the FODMAP diet. I researched it and decided I had nothing to lose by trying it. It has changed my life. So if it is IBS you have research the foods to eat and not to eat and hopefully it will help you as it has me. If I can help further please get in touch. Barbs x

I read a few years ago, about cheese, having a laxative effect on a lot of people! I cut back on my use of cheese and lo and behold! It stopped bothering me, until the last year, with all the illnesses that I have, copd (in particular) I now, just eat what I feel like, but, in much smaller quantities. I am not going to give up on life, however, l am NOT GOING TO BE A NUN, either. Just now, moderation is the new way now.
