I've had my pre OP at the Royal brompton hospital 2 weeks ago and since then I've come down with a nasty throat and chest infection, I've used my emergency pack and still no better. I'm at my wits end now and feeling really low. I dont even know if they will do the surgery now 😭

So sorry to hear that Missy_Miles. I suggest that you get in touch with the department and tell them. They can make the decision. Always better to have patience and wait if necessary. Good luck.

So sorry to hear that Missy_Miles and agree with Littlepom, get in touch with the hospital and see what they say.

Feel better soon. Xxxx

Yes, do call the department to speak to his/her secretary - not the receptionists! Their job is admin, not health.

Also, see GP ASAP re the throat infection if it's not better after one course of antibiotics.

For future reference, I always use Corvonia antiseptic throat spray at the slightest throat ache, to prevent germs going down the airways to my lungs. Tea Tree oil, a few drops in warm water when I haven't got the Corvonia with me. Good luck

Thank you for your responses and I did email the hospital on Monday and I'm sad to say the secretary has so far given me wrong information. Feels like a ton of cement is on my chest, I'm on constant antibiotics (3 times aweek) but just finished the one you have to take for 7 days plus the prednisone. Called my GP 3 times to be told there is no appointments available I should call back at 8am each day which I have done since Wednesday only to be put in a queue then cut off numrously.

I'm really at my lowest point at the moment. 😰

Personally, I would either get down to the surgery or ring nhs 24 or go to local a and e if I got worse. Sorry you are having to go through such a torture. You could ask for cancellation slot for OP.

What a worry for you, keep ringing the surgery and dont give up. I know its a pain but I just keep my phone on redial when trying to get a telephone conversation with the doctor. I do hope you get better soon x

I was told on Thursday after my Bronch that if I get an infection or have any probs, not to contact them but to Call my Respiratory Dept, Which I would have done, They did give me Strong AB's for 5 days and my Normal Meds help. Happy to say apart from my Sore throat I feel Fine now. Good Luck Hun I hope you feel Better soon. xxx
