My name is Dean I'm 37 now and i had pneumonia over 2 years go.
I guess I'm lucky to be here as i was apparently hours from knocking on deaths door.
i do have some scaring on my right lung after the infection. it took me around 6 months to at least start feeling normal again. The words feeling normal bring me to the question i wish to ask.
Cold's and Flu.
Pre Pneumonia i was very much a bit of a get on with it person, although ill i was always able to cope and deal with it.
Post Pneumonia if i catch anything now its knocking the light out of me, i face a massive tiredness crash to the point of i cant keep my eyes open and the aching feels a lot worse then what i previously remember it.
Does anyone else who has suffered from pneumonia feel the same? Is this normal to face after having pneumonia even though i had it over 2 years ago?
look forward to your replays
Cheers
Deano

Hi Dean it does take a lot of time to recover from but 2 years on one would think is too long to put down to just the aftermath of pneumonia alone. Do you have the fatigue and aching most of the time or is it only when you've picked up a virus/bug of some kind? I get aches around the side where I had it, but I do have other issues and also am a lot older than you. Perhaps it's time to visit gp and get both lungs and general health(vits and minerals lacking can give those symptoms too) along with FBC check?
Thanks for replying soppysokes. I seem to be totally fine up until I get a bug, cold or the flu, I then do suffer from some discomfort in my chest and the odd occasion had a bubbling sensation on the infected lung. I’ve been to the GP on a few occasions in fear I might end up with pneumonia again but I’ve been given the all clear every visit. Every time I’ve got a heavy cold or flu’ed up it’s taking the life out of me. Im quite a healthy guy and I do take multi vits to try and avoid these situations. Pneumonia is life changing, I guess it’s something I’ll have to live with now on unfortunately. Maybe I’m not a tough as I used to be before it.
Yup it does leave its mark! But as Lemon 7 says don't leave any chest infection type problems to build up in future get it checked out earlyto avoid potential problems. I also feel an odd sensation at times, I liken it to thefeel of treading on fresh snow vibration and have been told not a big deal- previousdamage-who knows huh!
Think you could mention to GP, maybe get lung function check. Remember not to soldier on if you get respiratory illness, infections in future. Get prompt medical care in case you need antibiotics to prevent future lung damage.
