Oxygenating plants.

I saw my doctor this week after being close to being admitted to hospital two weeks ago and he was pleased in spite of that cough that we all get when we have these glitches from time to time. He was very pleased with my oxygen levels, I wonder if it has anything to do with my oxygenating plants? I'm hoping it is,.

I was reading an article about keeping the air clean in your home, especially the problems related to all our electric gubbins, computers bedside clocks etc. Their recommendation, if living in a small space, so cannot have many, was the 70's and 80's favourite the Spider Plant, am seriously thinking about plants again.

The ornaments on display on top of your fire could cause heavy breathing in some quarters. 😉

Could you explain about the ornaments please

Just admiring them. 🙂

The couple on the are Rodins , The Kiss, and the other one is two wrestlers. They were just two plaster of Paris statuettes that I bought from a car boot and sprayed them silver to match the two chrome vases that were my mums. Nice of you to notice them, lol.

That was very clever of you, it works well. 🙂 The plants are very nice too, there's a lot of them about. 😉

Hi Marie, I totally believe that my oxygenating plants keep my home clear of toxins. I have them in my lounge and my bedroom. They also make my home look great too. Carry on with your indoor gardening. Maximonkey

I too have loads of plants, they purify our air. I did some research years ago and spider plants, ivy and peace lilies were all recommended AND spiders give off ‘babies’ which are great for potting on so you only have to buy one as they’ll soon produce off shoots.

I was delighted to see that they were even selling purifying plants in Lidl a few weeks ago too, I guess those hippies did know a thing or two after all with their macrame hanging spider plants years ago!!

Helps too that they’re trendy now. Btw, trees are a fabulous pollution soaker to screen your house outside.

Yes, I have a spider plant and an aloe Vera in the room I sleep in and the spider plant has lots of "babies" on at the moment so I'm going to pot some up for my friends.

Hi, this is very interesting and something I’ve not thought of before. I love plants and flowers, what would you recommend ? I don’t have a large area but could have one in the living room, bedroom and kitchen, so any advice would be helpful, I had planned to go to the garden centre tomorrow so could pick some up then if I know what to get. X

I have a peace lily, a spider plant, an aloe Vera and a snakeskin mother in laws tongue in my living room and I have a large spider plant (with babies on at the moment) and an aloe Vera in the room where I sleep. They all keep well if you don't overwater them. I went to the doctors early on this week and he told me that my oxygen levels were better than his.

I’m known a a crazy cat lady which is probably true. So, just a warning if you have cats please be careful what house plants you have. Lilies are a definite no no they are very toxic to cats and can kill.

I love house plants but don’t have any, I worry the cats would chew them and knowing my lot one of them would pee in them.

Catnip would be a good one for you 🐱🙂

I agree Judes, lots of plants are poisonous to cats & dogs, if you google it you will get a comprehensive list for either. I love Lilies, forunately neither of my dogs bother with the flowers and they don't seem to be worried about my plants either. When I got my first cat as a kitten I used to spray him if he went near my plants, he never did but was paranoid if I went into the cupboard under the sink in case I was getting the spray out!!

Plants..sounds wonderful! My home is not large, not too small, 2000 sq. ft. One room is 440 sq. ft., and lots of natural light. How many plants would be a correct number for that room. My BR is a nice size, but not a lot of natural light. Will appreciate all information. J
