Breakfast Cereals.

What cereal for breakfast?

A simple thing to ask

That is what it used to be

Now it's quite a task

You look at what's on offer

There rows and rows of them

According to the write-ups

Every one's a gem.

It's hard to make your mind up

Until you have the hunch

You'd better get it sorted

It will soon be time for lunch!

Cereals are not really my thing first thing in the morning. 6:00 am, my first breakfast is two slices of toast and Marmite with a cup of coffee to wash down the Amlodipine and Ramapril tabs. 10:00 am, my second breakfast being two pork pies and a glass of water with an aspirin.

Brilliant Don, Once again. Some Cereals are so Expensive these days, especially the Low calorie ones. It is Time consuming looking along those Shelves when the supermarket is very Cold with A/C Full Blast. The best cheapest choices are in Aldi, A Choice of a Few, Cheap Prices and Low calorie with Red Berries Mmmm. Happy Breakfast Hun. XXXX

Absolutely true, Don! However, since going on a very low salt diet I have found only one cereal I like that fits the bill. So now I don't need to stand there choosing from the vast array. Every cloud...! xx Moy

I like to have my porridge

Perhaps a prune or two

Then top it off with walnuts

That’s what I like to do!

in reply to

I need to keep on going

Cos that's the way I am

And why I usually stick to having

Healthy flaky bran

in reply to

You’re better off with prunes Don

Believe me I should know

Just four on my porridge everyday

Tat ta I’ve got to go!

Di

in reply to

I'm very fond of prunes in juice

With Elmlea on the top

I'm always sure to get them

When I go to shop.

I don't have them for breakfast

But I'm sure to will agree

That they taste just as good

When you have them for your tea

I don't like weetabix or porridge either

No wonder I have to dither

I Like sugarpuffs and rice krispies too

But don't have them as they are no good for you!

Tesco shoppers stunned as Fruit 'n' Fibre is so expensive it has security tags!

The cereal, made by Kellogs, is on sale in multiple stores for a staggering £7

Fruit ‘n’ fibre used to be my favourite but my new teeth are just not up to dealing with those hard bits anymore. 😟 Tesco brand was always considerably cheaper than Kellogs and I could never tell the difference.

My husband has no problem, always puffed wheat or puffed wheat! If all else fails, Rice Krispies or cornflakes, not adventurous at all!

I make my ow muesli: 1kg porridge oats, 200g each almonds, hazelnuts, chopped brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins and oat bran. To serve, put 4 heaped desert spoons in a bowl and add some milk. Delicious.

I usually don't measure the nuts and seeds precisely, just put in half a 350g packet. Make sure you get the catering packets (no VAT) rather than the snack packets (smaller and far less for your money).

A tip to anyone who suffers with diverticulitis - a bowl of Scott's Porage Oats Old Fashioned Thick Scottish-Milled Oats plus a sprinkling of muesli like Ergendl's moistened with Alpro Coconut Original - I don't use milk as it can cause mucus - completely cured my diverticulitis and that of a near neighbour - also tis far better for you and more cost effective - that's my preaching for the day done :-)

p.s. had a lovely day at the hospice hub - brilliant Shiatsu massage p.p.s. I forgot to say don't cook the oats - just have as they pour from the box!
